I was playing with concentrated pool on Arbitrum and the best way to do them is like you said... Pair two tokens that you like and you don't mind finishing with a lot of one of them... I was doing an ETH-ARB pair just for that reason...
Concentrated pools are like regular pools run at 10x speed :)
It's an interesting concept with big potential yields but it can easily go to other way round :-)
