Here you can see a work of art by the Austrian artist Eduard Thöny (1866 - 1950) who was born in South Tyrol and went to Munich in his early years to visit an Academy of Arts and he had a special passion for painting and drawing. He was probably already shaped by his father, who was also an artist and was known for creating sculptures and during his studies, he made many trips and visited different countries to familiarize himself with different cultures and collect new impressions and he decided to concentrate on creating illustrations for magazines. He painted extremely diverse motifs and was known for his wealth of ideas and the best-known magazine for which he worked was Simplicissimus, which is a humorous newspaper that had developed into one of the most popular German magazines and has also enjoyed great popularity in other countries. He worked for this magazine for years and was considered the most important illustrator and is known for having painted thousands of different caricatures during his life and most of the time he preferred to create works in black and white with different stylistic devices and he also often chose sport as a motif and was also very active in this regard and loved to practice different sports. He moved around a lot in artistic circles and liked to seek contact with other painters and received numerous honors and his works were exhibited internationally and in his later years a change in his style is noticeable and he dealt a lot with topics from his own culture and region and later he wanted to become a professor himself and share his knowledge of art, but nothing has come of this idea and with his unique style, he inspires numerous artists to this day.
