Pokemon TCG - Legacy Energy ACE SPEC From Upcoming Set Twilight Masquerade

in #pokemontcg25 days ago

Hi. In this short Pokemon trading card game post, I cover the ACE SPEC card Legacy Energy from the upcoming expansion Twilight Masquerade.

Note that I will be posting a lot of Pokemon TCG stuff in the next couple of weeks. Sorry if it looks like a lot.

This ACE SPEC energy card is a mixture of Luminous Energy with prize denial when the Pokemon is knocked out by damage from an opponent's Pokemon attack. Your opponent takes one less prize card when the Pokemon this Legacy Energy card is attached to from damage resulting in a knockout. Being able to use this prize denial effect once per game makes this ACE SPEC energy much less powerful. If you were able to use this effect more than once per game then this card would be amazing and maybe broken.

I do not see much future play with this Legacy Energy card as there are many more useful ACE SPEC cards that are out there right now and soon to be released. Stuff like Prime Catcher, Maximum Belt, the upcoming Unfair Stamp, the upcoming Secret Box would see more play than Legacy Energy.

There is also the return and reprint of Enhanced Hammer in the upcoming Twilight Masquerade set. This powerful Item card allows the user to discard a Special Energy from 1 of the opponent's Pokemon. Enhanced Hammer can discard this Legacy Energy card or a Double Turbo Energy, Mist Energy, Reversal Energy or one other Special Energy.

One use case I see with Legacy Energy is with the upcoming card Okidogi. It is such a niche use case though. Maybe I am missing something. Let's see how it plays out in Japan and internationally. Okidogi screenshot below.
