Welcome to my 46th #BrawlReport as part of the @hive.pizza PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish guild! This is the brawl that ended around December 14, 2022 and I returned to battling in Fray #1 after taking the last brawl off because I forgot to grab a fray in time. Oops.

PIZZA 2 Guild Member Performance

I snagged the first place slot with 7 wins and 2 losses. We also had five players go undefeated! Congrats to @koodies, @higherlow, @blitzzzz, @relf87, and @therizzo on their undefeated performance!

PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Results

We earned 12 crowns, 646 merits, and 16.362 SPS for finishing in 1st place in this brawl. The crown and merit rewards seem to be a little low and I think it may be because we didn't have all our frays filled up and one no show.
The SPS rewards have been a welcome addition to the brawl rewards and equaled about 0.51 USD. Before these rewards changes, the only benefit to brawls was the merits and crowns, which hold no real value outside of your own account. Looking at the cost of renting cards for brawling, I spent the equivalent of 421 DEC, which is worth 0.31 USD. I actually didn't expect the SPS value to exceed my rental cost for the brawl, but this is a pleasant surprise! Perhaps rental brawling can be self-sustaining now!

My Battles

My 7-2 record was the result of going 4-2 in actual battles with three opponents fleeing. Looking at it this way doesn't make it seem like I did as well haha.

Featured Battles

Battle #2 - Win

Watch the battle.

This battle has a moderately low mana restriction and also causes some issues for magic attack by making it susceptible to armor. My strategy is to combine the blast ability from Yodin, with the overwhelming force of Grum Flameblade and keeping a gladiator protected behind him with Sneak attack to hopefully get some kills and boosted stats.

My opponent's use of lower health cards left them susceptible to the double-bloodlust card threat that I presented. My two bloodlust cards were able to clean up quite easily.

Battle #4 - Win

Watch the battle.

These low-mana battles are always challenging and this one is combined with Back to Basics so monsters lose ALL abilities. Because the monsters lose all abilities, I have to rely on my summoner for any special effects.

I am using Yodin to get the blast effect and relying more on range attack than I usually do in the hope that they will clear out my opponent quickly.

Thankfully, this strategy worked perfectly and my first hit took out one of their two monsters and then I was able to make quick work of eliminating their tank.

Battle #7 - Win

Watch the battle.

This battle required that we only use the Earth splinter, so my go-to strategy there is a Llama summoner and Kron and/or Quora Towershead. In this case I only had enough mana to select one of those monsters so I went with Quora and her bloodlust ability. Up front I placed a blocker with Thorns to help wear down my opponent's tank.

This opponent is relying on magic attack with a +1 magic summoner and a healing card. This looks like it will be a challenging battle because of their huge magic attack each turn.

Ultimately, the massive boost that Quora received when she became the last card standing, as well as the stats boost for each kill from bloodlust, made her unstoppable despite my opponent having a huge magic attack each turn.

Final Thoughts

I'm really happy with how things turned out for this brawl. I managed to lead the guild with wins and the two losses I suffered thankfully didn't matter for our final standings where we beat the second place guild by two wins.

Now that my rental brawl strategy is self-sustaining with SPS, I've got a renewed energy toward just sticking with brawl battling for my Splinterlands experience.

What is the @hive.pizza #BrawlReport?

kennysgaminglife spearheaded the #BrawlReport project as a way to get PIZZA guild members more engaged in the @Splinterlands community. Here's what he had to say:

*Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #HivePizza guild to publish a #BrawlReport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)

Check out the latest update on the Hive Pizza token project. We also have an announcement in there about the newest PIZZA guild! We are up to four Splinterlands guilds now and are consistently well-ranking.
