It was getting very cool and drizzly and as it was late afternoon, we decided to head back to Bendigo. Maldon was a lovely little town, and we will return someday. As per our mantra of trying not to travel the same road twice, we took a variety of small country roads to return home. Along the way we came across the Maldon Cemetery which had quite a few graves dating back to the 1800's, which is pretty old for Australia. We find cemeteries interesting and cannot drive past one without stopping to peruse the gravestones. This one was segregated into various sections and had a small Chinese area. Set in beautiful bushland, the setting one could feel the peace and serenity of the surrounds.
A little further along the road we spied some sheep grazing on lush green grass, so we once again had to stop and take the obligatory photos.
We have had so much rain this year it is no wonder everything is so green.
There were also a couple of containers sitting in the middle of a field which caught my attention, so out came the camera again to capture the image. It reminded me a bit of a Windows screensaver.
We find it enjoyable viewing these unpretentious settings as well as the more iconic locations.
The rain was now getting quite heavy and consistent, so we continued our journey home to Bendigo.
