Introduction:
wp-dapp is an effort to create a community-driven project aimed at building a WordPress plugin that allows users to interact with the Hive blockchain directly from their WordPress site, much like the beloved Exxp plugin. The goal of wp-dapp is to make it easier for WordPress users to access the features of the Hive blockchain, such as posting, commenting, and voting on Hive content, and to connect with the Hive community.
Using Wordpress as a front end vastly increases the distributed nature of the Hive ecosystem and could also a great way to gain lots of new users and also has the benefit of building on a very mature and popular platform.
Plan:
The wp-dapp project will be developed in phases, with each phase building upon the previous one. The phases are:
Planning and design phase: In this phase, we will gather requirements and feedback from the community, design the architecture of the plugin, and plan the development process.
Development phase: In this phase, we will start building the plugin based on the design and requirements gathered in the planning phase. We will create a functional prototype and test it with the community to get feedback.
Beta testing phase: In this phase, we will release the beta version of the plugin to a group of selected beta testers who will test the plugin on their WordPress site and provide feedback.
Release phase: In this phase, we will release the final version of the plugin to the WordPress Plugin Repository and make it available to the public.
I am not a developer, but I do have some rudimentary coding experience. I'm hoping this is enough to piece things together, but I certainly could use some help.

Great initiative and what could be a massively popular plugin if built right.
The idea behind exxp was brilliant but they never built on it properly.
Once the plug in was built it needed a quick way to to sign up to hive,
a way to delegate RC to the new sign ups.
Maybe take a 5% beneficiary reward and use that hive to expand and then market the app to more wordpress users.
Looking forward to seeing how progress goes and what comes out of it.
Those are good points. I think Exxp is/ was awesome, but they appear to have abandoned it now. There is so much potential for Hive in its continued dev.

I always thought that it could be a great way to bring in tens of thousands of users over time with the right set up and marketing.
So many people have wordpress blogs that never earnt a penny for them. If you can sell them on a wordpress plugin that is very simple to launch on their site and show them a wallet page with money coming into it then it should be an easy yes for all of them.
Turning crypto to fiat is another issue but there was a voucher site where you could buy amazon vouchers with hive at one stage? Just brainstorming but it could be a big project.
No better person to take it on than yourself as you can see the need for it and want to do something to make it happen.

There are 2 such plugins project, both of them are dead, and the developers are not responding on my asking why are they dead.
The newest, updated (about 2 years ago) is the EXXP, this is the fork of the previous, first one, SteemPress plugin (3 years ago).
I have installed it on couple of my WP projects, and it has worked... for couple of months, but, then, no update, nothing is happened anymore.
I'm interested too in such projects, because, i have many wp sites, and would beneficiary of such a plugin.
If i can help with this, let us do the work. I'm not extremely experienced, but, maybe the try is worth.
Also, it seems like there isn't much or any Wordpress community here on Hive. It always suprises me that open source isn't well represented here, where it seems to me like it would be most appreciated.

Word Press is a huge web 2 application and has lot of users. Having this plug in would be a great addtional tool for onboarding web 2 users to web 3.

Thank you! I think so too. It could be a big part of further decentralizing the web and cutting out the middle man. There is such a broad market of opportunities already on the Wordpress platform, I can't imagine all the ways it could improve content and commerce that people would come up with.
