It's good to be here again with another participation in the Vibes Web3 Music Competition. For week 11 I want to share with you a guitar and bass cover of the song "Don't dream it's over" by the Australian-New Zealand band "Crowded House" who have been around for almost 40 years. I think that just by listening to the intro guitar or the chorus you will recognize this song that is still being played in different radios around the world. An interesting curiosity of this song is that it has several versions made by different artists and even in other languages, there are also versions in which only the riffs or the same chords are used, but the lyrics change completely.
Recording this cover represented a big challenge for me since I had to learn some chords that I didn't know, so I had to practice for a while until I could master them. I think this kind of challenges are important because at the end of the day we end up with new musical knowledge that even though it may be simple, it helps to enrich the range of chords that I have in my mental repertoire at the moment. It is worth mentioning that, due to the key of the song, I had to use the capotraste on the first fret of the guitar.
It was also very interesting to record the bass as it has quite particular characteristics, although as usual, I gave it a very personal touch because for this type of work I consider important to make certain differences to make it quite distinctive from the original song. I had a lot of fun doing this cover, every day I master more and more the applications I use to record the instrumental lines and that for me is a great gain.
To support me in this presentation, I used the Moises application to remove the bass and guitars from the original track, in addition, I used the audio editing program Cubase 5 and the EZMix2 pluggin. I also used my Lexicon Alpha audio interface. I wish all participants the best of luck, best regards!
