En las profundidades de un hermoso bosque de New York, donde el ruido de la ciudad a penas se escuchaba, pero el sol, vibrante y cálido, se filtraba día tras día entre las hojas de sus árboles, se encontraba una gran colmena…

Esta, era habitada por miles de abejas que, por durante su incansable labor, zumbaban en unir y venir, sin embargo, entre todas ellas, destacaba una por su autenticidad… Vik. Y es que Vik no era como las demás, porque desde pequeña siempre quiso “ser una abeja reina”. Su corazón latía por una idea sumamente alocada para las abejas obreras como ella (porque eso era lo que muchos le decían)… Sin embargo, la colmena ya había elegido una.
Y es que hace años habían elegido a Diane, una reina imponente de alas majestuosas y abdomen alargado, que era la fuente de vida y garante del futuro generacional de la colmena. Ella, guiada por su instinto, depositaba periódicamente sus huevos en paneles de cera para así asegurar la continuidad de su especie (sin embargo, su tiempo cada día se acercaba más y más al límite permitido)…

Lo que más admiraba Vik de ella, era esa asombrosa habilidad para comunicarse con todos. Ya que, a través de los hermosos movimientos de sus alas y sus distinguidas feromonas, ella podía transmitir cualquier información de vital importancia para su colmena (las relacionadas a la recolección del néctar, la construcción de sus paneles y por supuesto, la defensa de su especie).
Y es por esa razón que ella era toda una fuente de admiración y ejemplo a seguir para Vik, porque ella soñaba con poder guiar y sostener a su colmena hacia un futuro tan brillante o incluso mejor del que Diane ofrecía. Pero también era consciente de que para llegar allí tenía que haber nacido “destinada a ello” y que sus hermanas, obreras como ella, estaban totalmente programadas para hacer tu labor, por lo que la única que “soñaba esas locuras” era ella…
Sin embargo, ella también tenía la convicción de que era más que miel, y gracias a su tenacidad y un poco de astucia, pudo convertirse en una abeja ejemplar para todos.
Vik había logrado lo que otras “abejas como ella ni siquiera pensaban”, demostrarles que su eficiencia era impecable y su espíritu de hermandad y colaboración… Simplemente singular. Por o que ahora no era una más, ahora era una fuente de sabiduría y fortaleza…
Pero fue solo hasta que un día, mientras Vik recolectaba néctar en un campo de flores silvestres, que ella tuvo que poner a prueba toda su trayectoria. Porque una tormenta inesperada azotó la ciudad de New York...

En medio de esta, se podía observar cómo el viento azotaba con furia todo lo que tenía a su paso. Pero la lluvia no se quedaba atrás porque caía a cántaros y los rayos eran la cereza del pastel, porque iluminaban el cielo con una luz totalmente cegadora para animales y humanos.
Toda esta situación hizo que la colmena de Vik se viese amenazada por una fuerza de proporciones nunca antes vistas. Y sus hermanas, las abejas obreras que también se encontraban con ella, se encontraban desorientadas y atemorizadas… ¡No sabían qué hacer!

Fue en ese preciso momento que Vik tomó el control, y guiada por su maravillosa intuición y su conocimiento del entorno, pudo guiarlas hacia un refugio que, aunque no estaba muy lejos del punto inicial, era seguro para todas. Y es gracias a ese liderazgo y resiliencia frente a esas adversidades, que puedo salvar a sus hermanas y a ella misma, de un final catastrófico.
Este heroico acto, por parte de Vik, fue una noticia que se propagó tan rápido, como la luz que se ve al despertar en un día soleado. Las abejas ancianas (fuentes de la sabiduría ancestral de la colmena), quedaron asombradas por su valentía y reconocieron de inmediato que “el instinto que ella poseía”, cumplía con las cualidades de una abeja distinguida para quedarse en la colmena y así reinar, por lo que decidieron desafiar la tradición y nombrarla reina de la colmena.

Vik, profundamente conmovida y feliz, aceptó ese honor con humildad y responsabilidad, para así, desde ese momento, gobernar la colmena como ella era, un ejemplo de sabiduría y eficiencia…
Así que recuerda que no importa cuán locos se vean nuestros sueños, porque podemos alcanzarlos si los seguimos con seguridad, valentía y un corazón humilde.
Y también te confieso que quise compartir contigo esta historia, para honrar a nuestras hermosas abejas que, con su incansable labor, sostienen la vida de nuestro planeta (y porque este 20 de mayo se celebra su día). Así que, ten presente que al igual que ellas, cada uno de nosotros tenemos un papel importante que desempeñar en este mundo… Así que si aún no lo sabes, puedes descubrirlo ¡para trabajar día a día por él!

Years ago, they had chosen Diane, an imposing queen with majestic wings and an elongated abdomen, who was the source of life and the guarantor of the hive's generational future. She, guided by her instinct, periodically deposited her eggs in wax panels in order to ensure the continuity of her species (however, her time was getting closer and closer to the allowed limit)...

What Vik admired most about her was her amazing ability to communicate with everyone. Since, through the beautiful movements of her wings and her distinguished pheromones, she could transmit any information of vital importance for her hive (those related to the collection of nectar, the construction of her panels and, of course, the defense of her species).
And it is for that reason that she was a source of admiration and an example for Vik to follow, because she dreamed of being able to guide and sustain her hive towards a future as bright or even better than the one Diane offered. But she was also aware that to get there she had to be born "destined for it" and that her sisters, workers like her, were fully programmed to do your job, so the only one who "dreamed those crazy things" was her....
However, she also had the conviction that she was more than honey, and thanks to her tenacity and a bit of cunning, she was able to become an exemplary bee for everyone.
Vik had achieved what other "bees like her didn't even think of", showing them that her efficiency was impeccable and her spirit of brotherhood and collaboration... Simply singular. So now she was not just one more, now she was a source of wisdom and strength....
But it was only until one day, while Vik was gathering nectar in a field of wildflowers, that she had to put her entire career to the test. For an unexpected storm swept through New York City...

In the midst of it, the wind could be seen whipping furiously at everything in its path. But the rain was not far behind because it fell in torrents and the lightning was the icing on the cake, because it illuminated the sky with a totally blinding light for animals and humans.
All this situation caused Vik's hive to be threatened by a force of never-before-seen proportions. And her sisters, the worker bees who were also with her, were disoriented and frightened... They didn't know what to do!

It was at that precise moment that Vik took control, and guided by her wonderful intuition and her knowledge of the environment, she was able to guide them to a shelter that, although not far from the initial point, was safe for all of them. And it is thanks to this leadership and resilience in the face of adversity that she was able to save her sisters and herself from a catastrophic end.
This heroic act on Vik's part was news that spread as fast as the light you see when you wake up on a sunny day. The old bees (sources of the ancestral wisdom of the hive) were amazed by her bravery and immediately recognized that "the instinct she possessed" fulfilled the qualities of a distinguished bee to stay in the hive and thus reign, so they decided to defy tradition and name her queen of the hive.

Vik, deeply moved and happy, accepted the honor with humility and responsibility, so that from that moment on, she could rule the hive as she was, an example of wisdom and efficiency...
So remember that it doesn't matter how crazy our dreams look, because we can achieve them if we follow them with confidence, courage and a humble heart.
And I also confess that I wanted to share this story with you, to honor our beautiful bees who, with their tireless work, sustain the life of our planet (and because this May 20 is their day).
