As Russia Advances, NATO Considers Sending Trainers Into Ukraine
Probably with France as the vanguard. And I could see the U.K. stepping up. Maybe the U.S., but that would likely not be until after the election.
Trump Again Insists He’ll Win Minnesota
Um, no, he won’t. Biden won here handily four years ago and the state’s economy is booming. Sure, Trump will win a bunch of rural red counties with more bovines than humans. But the Twin Cites metro area has about two-thirds of the state’s population and he’ll get crushed here.
Two years into President Biden’s term, his aides began negotiating with Saudi leaders to have the kingdom establish diplomatic relations with Israel. But when the Israel-Hamas war began last October, the talks withered. American and Saudi officials have tried to revive prospects for a deal by demanding more from Israel — a cease-fire in Gaza and irreversible steps toward the founding of a Palestinian nation.
Now those officials say they are close to a final agreement on the main elements of what the Saudis want from the deal: a U.S.-Saudi mutual defense pact and cooperation on a civilian nuclear program in the kingdom.
If even the Saudis can see that petroleum is a dead end, why is it so hard for a huge portion of Americans to see it?
A mutual defense pact? Really? So we’re going to let the Saudis drag us into a war against Iran, a country much larger and far more formidable than the success stories otherwise known as Iraq and Afghanistan?

‘Political Malpractice’: The Debate Commission Chief Thinks Trump Blew It
There will still be debates, of course, assuming neither Biden nor Trump pulls out of the CNN and ABC faceoffs currently scheduled. And Fahrenkopf — the chair of the Republican National Committee in the Reagan era — told me he thought the Biden campaign rolled the Trump campaign by seeming to get everything it wanted in the debate over the terms of the debates. “It was a pretty spectacular job by the Biden people,” he said.
