En esta oportunidad les compartiré la forma en que solucioné un problema que tenía con la bomba que abastece de agua mi residencia.

In this opportunity I will share with you how I solved a problem I had with the pump that supplies water to my residence.
Tengo un tanque subterráneo de 4000 litros e inicialmente había colocado un sistema de bombeo formado por una bomba de 1 HP y un pulmón pequeño de unos 30 litros, lo que se conoce como sistema precargado.
Al pasar el tiempo se le rompió la membrana de goma que lleva el pulmón en su interior varias veces y resultaba más caro la membrana que lo que me costó el sistema precargado.
Últimamente, al pulmón se le hizo un orificio y tuve que eliminarlo, quedando la bomba sola con su presostato, claro lo ideal es que tenga su pulmón para que la bomba no se encienda a cada instante, pero después pienso cambiar a otro sistema.

I have a subway tank of 4000 liters and initially I had placed a pumping system consisting of a 1 HP pump and a small lung of about 30 liters, which is known as preloaded system.
As time went by, the rubber membrane inside the lung broke several times and the membrane was more expensive than what the precharged system cost me.
Lately, a hole was made in the lung and I had to eliminate it, leaving the pump alone with its pressure switch, of course the ideal is that it has its lung so that the pump does not turn on at every moment, but then I plan to change to another system.

Desde hace varios días había notado que la bomba se quedaba encendida por largo rato y tenia que darle un golpe al presostato para que se detuviera.
Un vecino me recomendó que le limpiara los contactos al presostato con una lija para mejorar el contacto, lo hice pero sin resultado.
Eso me tenía bastante preocupado y estuve a punto de llamar un técnico, pero luego de indagar en Internet la función del presostato y la forma de instalarlo, me decidí a comprarlo y a instalarlo yo mismo.
Lo que hice fue comprar un presostato 20/40 con rosca hembra, cuyo costo fue de 5.50$. Busqué un poco de teflón, un destornillador de pala,una llave inglesa, una pinza y pues a trabajar.

For several days I had noticed that the pump would stay on for a long time and I had to hit the pressure switch to make it stop.
A neighbor recommended me to clean the contacts of the pressure switch with sandpaper to improve the contact, I did it but without result.
That had me quite worried and I was about to call a technician, but after researching on the Internet the function of the pressure switch and how to install it, I decided to buy it and install it myself.
What I did was to buy a 20/40 pressure switch with female thread, whose cost was $5.50. I got some Teflon, a screwdriver, a wrench, a pliers and then I went to work.

La función del presostato es la de encender la bomba cuando la presión de agua baja a 20 psi (libras por pulgadas cuadradas)y apaga cuando la presión llega a 40 psi. A eso se refiere la numeración 20/40. Eso hace que se mantengan las tuberías siempre con presión para la salida del agua dentro de la casa.
Confieso que tenía miedo de colocarlo mal y que esto ocasionara daños a la bomba, pero le tomé una foto a los cables del que estaba colocado y así mismo los desarmé y volví a colocar.
El cuidado que hay que tener es colocarle teflón a la rosca del presostato y darle varias vueltas hasta que quede bien sujeto y no filtre. Además es importante no mover los tornillos de los resortes que trae.

The function of the pressure switch is to turn the pump on when the water pressure drops to 20 psi (pounds per square inch) and off when the pressure reaches 40 psi. That is what the 20/40 numbering refers to. That keeps the pipes always pressurized for the water output inside the house.
I confess that I was afraid of placing it wrong and that this would cause damage to the pump, but I took a picture of the wires of the one that was placed and I disassembled and repositioned them.
The care to be taken is to put Teflon on the pressure switch thread and turn it several times until it is well fastened and does not leak. It is also important not to move the screws of the springs it comes with.

Los resortes o muelles que dispone este aparato sirven para variar las presiones de apertura y cierre de los contactos que encenderán la bomba. Pero en mi caso no tuve que hacer este ajuste porque el presostato ya viene configurado con las presiones de inicio y fin.
Luego de verificar que los cables estuviesen correctamente instalados, procedí a hacer pasar la corriente y mi alegria fue grande cuando escuché al aparato encender y luego apagar la bomba.
La verdad me sentí como un genio de la mecánica al haber instalado con éxito este aparatito y al cual le tenía tanto miedo Eso demuestra que "querer es poder". Todo es proponerse a hacer las cosas, aplicar la lógica en todo momento y algunas veces seguir el instinto, para llegar a la meta. Además, me ahorré contratar un técnico que solo por legar a mi casa me iba a cobrar.

The springs that this device has are used to vary the opening and closing pressures of the contacts that will turn on the pump. But in my case I did not have to make this adjustment because the pressure switch is already configured with the start and end pressures.
After verifying that the wires were correctly installed, I proceeded to turn on the power and my joy was great when I heard the device turn on and then turn off the pump.
The truth is that I felt like a mechanical genius to have successfully installed this device, which I was so afraid of. It's all about setting your mind to do things, applying logic at all times and sometimes following your instinct, to get to the finish line. Besides, I saved myself from hiring a technician who was going to charge me just for coming to my house.

Gracias a Dios, hasta la fecha la bomba ha estado trabajando bien, aunque mi meta es invertir en otro sistema que no involucre mayor mantenimiento. Actualmente existen los llamados "press control", que hacen la misma función y garantizan presión constante en las tuberías. El único inconveniente que le veo es que no debe existir la menor fuga de agua dentro de la casa, porque entonces el aparato no se apagará.
