🦉 The spotted flycatcher (Muscicapa striata)

  • Muscicapa lat .: musca fly, capere to catch
  • striata (lat.) streaky, striped, speckled

This type of flycatcher arrives late; in principle, this bird can be said to arrive one of the latest. And for some reason this species is rare.
I meet these birds in the forest near the river bank, in an area where there are a few plantings of coniferous trees, or rather pine trees. And also in a coniferous forest in summer.

This bird is characterized by a vertical position. That is, the bird sits strictly vertically on a branch. She also likes to choose a convenient perch for herself to make it easier to look out for insects. And seeing the prey, the bird flies after it, catches it, and returns back to the perch.
