Hello friends of this community, here in my hometown yenagoa, I’m Celebrating a local festival known as the boro day with my family.
A day with the family begins with a symphony of morning rituals which include breakfast smells wafting through the kitchen, laughing at the silliest of things with my troublesome siblings. We celebrated our boro day indoors as a family simply lounging at home with every moment being cherished.
Moments like these are very rear, it brings back memories of when we where young, when we had no worries, when we were just being kids, when we only thought about the craziest of things but it all has to end just like how the caterpillar has to grow up eventually and become a butterfly thats how our maturity came to us.
But it didn’t end there, the maturity came with a lot of baggage that was at first a lot of weight for our tiny maturing shoulders to handle.
My family has always been there for me through trying times and i am forever grateful for their support. I remember an incident that happened once, i was going through a lot of physical and mental struggles and I didn’t tell anyone about it and i also thought no one knew about it either. But little did i know that my family were watching me and they did notice what was going on with me but they were just giving me space to sort myself out and make it look like they were bothering me i was going through the teenage phase.
I actually thought i was alone until my older sister sent me a text message one afternoon that warmed my heart and then my two youngest sisters kept sending me memes online to make me smile and i did smile hahaha.I had thought i was hiding my problems well from them and i had forgotten that family wasn’t just about sharing the same blood but also about sharing your problems too and going through them together as family.
Now here we are, a few years older than we were back then and enjoying boro day in our living room laughing together.
