Kon-Tiki - More than a handmade raft

in CineTV16 days ago

Crossing the Pacific Ocean in 101 days on a handmade raft without the use of modern technology can be a unique opportunity for those looking for an extraordinary adventure. You will have to spend some time for this, but let me tell you, it will definitely be worth your time! I spent my time and watched the movie Kon-Tiki, which is also the name of the raft!

The main story of Kon-Tiki is the ocean voyage that a Norwegian explorer started on April 28, 1947 to prove his thesis to the whole world. Although the movie is a biography, it provides a detailed depiction of the ocean adventure and the events that unfolded during the 101-day journey.

Most of the time I don't like biographies, and there are several reasons for that. Instead of listing them, I would rather say that the movie Kon-Tiki has none of them. We can consider the movie as a journey of a group of crazy people across the ocean for 101 days with the means of 1500 years before their time. In this way, I can say that the pleasure of watching the movie increases and the production gets rid of the priority of being a biography movie.

This small detail may not be important for most people, but I have to say that it is important for me, I find it more valuable that the story involves an ocean adventure for more than 3 months. The impression before you start watching makes the movie more enjoyable than it is.

I don't want to question the historical authenticity of the story and the Norwegian explorer's thesis. In fact, if we follow a simple logic, I don't think I would consider a raft journey with the means of 1500 years ago sufficient and believe in the authenticity of the thesis. However, the movie offers the perfect opportunity to question the risks taken by a group of adventurous people who risk their lives for the sake of belief and whether it is worth it.

From the construction of the raft to the beginning and the end of the journey, I see it as an advantage for the audience that the selected characters' own life stories and the reasons why they joined the journey are added to the film, and in this respect; the film actually tells more than one life. If we consider the completion of the journey as a success, I believe that this success is shared equally among all the characters because in films that adhere to historical facts, success usually belongs to the person whose life is examined.

Pal Sverre Valheim Hagen, who gives life to the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who tries to prove to everyone that he can do it when no one believes in him, is of course the most prominent character in the movie. His meticulousness in both the construction of the raft and the selection of the people who will join the journey is a bit frustrating, but considering the risks he takes and the things he gives up in order to prove his thesis, it is hard not to admire him.

I recommend everyone to watch the movie Kon-Tiki, as a family movie and especially as a months-long ocean voyage adventure on a raft. If you think like me, you will enjoy it even more. My last suggestion would be to look more carefully at the previous lives of the characters involved in the journey.

Thank you for being here and reading. I wish everyone who will watch the movie a good time and see you in my next article, goodbye!
