Recently the system of rewards for Splinterlands was significantly changed. In the past the SGS account was automatically claiming Reward Chests containing NFTs, tokens and what-not...but now the account accumulates a new token called Glint. On it's own Glint is not trade-able and not really worth anything but it can be spent at the Reward Shop to buy various things. I discussed this via a post last month when I asked Splinterlands Glint : What to do with it?
I had came to the conclusion that it was wisest to just wait and see how the Reward Shop works and make sure there were no obvious pitfalls and changes being made. We've have 1 significant update to the Reward Shop since that post and now the dust has settled so the situation is clearer.
The short story is that players can now purchase NFT Reward Cards of a Specific Rarity and that means that if there are shortfalls in your playing deck then they can be more accurately plugged up. This is good for the SGS account because it has a playing deck geared up with Summoners targeting Silver Tier competitiveness.
So the first thing I did was to compile an inventory of the current reward cards on the community account and identify which cards were short of the target level for Silver Tier. I made a list of those and lot of the Common and Rare Reward cards have already been earnt and upgraded to Silver Tier, but there are a few Epic and several Legendary cards that could use a boost to get there.
Therefore it made sense to spend the SGS Glint on some Legendary Draws to see if we can get those cards up to Max Silver Tier and enhance the overall competitiveness (and earning potential) of the SGS playing account. This is what we got :-
Not bad. After this I was able to upgrade Sorriel the Bale to Max Silver. Berix Snakeye was already there but Musa Saline, Drybone Raider and Terracious Hulk are all now just 1 BCX short of Max Silver. I think we should be able to get them there within a couple of seasons.
