As soon as I heard about the existence of these inexpensive tours offered by the residents of the city of Ushuaia, I knew I had to take the opportunity to visit Lake Fagnano. I had heard a lot about this place and how beautiful it was, but when I saw that it was 100 km away from the city center I thought it would be difficult to get there. Luckily for me, there was one of these tours that included a visit to this lake, so I didn't hesitate to sign up. Our driver Sandra was passionate about her hometown and made sure we saw as many places as possible, including this one, which is on her must-see list ❤️.
Ni bien me enteré de la existencia de estos tours económicos ofrecidos por los propios vecinos de la ciudad de Ushuaia, supe que tenía que aprovechar la oportunidad para ir a conocer el Lago Fagnano. Me habían hablado mucho de este lugar y de lo lindo que era, pero cuando ví que quedaba a 100 km del centro de la ciudad pensé que iba a ser difícil llegar hasta él. Para mi suerte, dentro de estos paseos había uno que incluía la visita a este lago así que no dudé en anotarme. Nuestra chofer Sandra era una apasionada por su ciudad natal y se encargó de que veamos la mayor cantidad de lugares posibles, incluyendo este que está en su lista de imperdibles ❤️.
Our first stop on this tour was the beautiful Bridal Veil Waterfall, a small waterfall not so well known by tourists. There we took the opportunity to walk for a while, in a short but no less demanding trekking. Continuing with our walk, we decided to go to the farthest point of our itinerary, Lake Fagnano, to enjoy it first and then be able to continue with the rest of the list while we were on our way back. When we arrived, we found a large mirror of blue water that reminded us of the sea but without being it, something very nice to contemplate ❤️.
Nuestra primera parada dentro de este tour fue en la hermosa Cascada Velo de Novia, un pequeño salto de agua no tan conocido por los turistas. Ahí aprovechamos para caminar un rato, en un trekking cortito pero no menos exigente. Continuando con nuestro paseo, decidimos ir hasta el punto más lejos de nuestro itinerario, el Lago Fagnano, para disfrutarlo primero y después poder continuar con los del resto de la lista mientras estuviéramos de regreso. Cuando llegamos, nos encontramos con un gran espejo de agua azul que recordaba al mar pero sin serlo, algo muy lindo de contemplar ❤️.
Like most of my days in Ushuaia, the weather was quite changeable and the cloud cover affected the lighting and colors of the place. Anyway, as I always say, when a landscape is beautiful by itself, it doesn't matter the weather we have. When the sun went down, the lake lost the turquoise color it had at the beginning, but it was still very beautiful with all the mountains in the background ❤️.
Al igual que la mayoría de mis días en Ushuaia, el clima estuvo bastante cambiante y la nubosidad afectaba bastante la iluminación y colores del lugar. De todos modos, como siempre digo, cuando un paisaje es hermoso de por sí, no importa el clima que tengamos. Cuando se fue el sol, el lago perdió ese color turquesa que tenía al principio, pero igual seguía siendo muy lindo con todas las montañas que tiene de fondo ❤️.
This entrance to the shore of Lake Fagnano was made through a pass of the Argentinean prefecture. Although it was a closed road with a gate, we were still able to pass through and use this place freely. I think that since it is quite far from the city it has almost no visitors, besides there may be the belief that because it is a dock area of the prefecture you can not pass. The good thing about having gone with Sandra is that she was clear that it was possible to go there and she took us there so that we would not leave Ushuaia without seeing these landscapes ❤️.
Esta entrada hacia la costa del Lago Fagnano la hicimos por un paso de la prefectura argentina. A pesar de que era un camino cerrado con tranquera, igual pudimos pasar y usar libremente este lugar. Pienso que como queda bastante lejos de la ciudad casi no tiene visitantes, además de que puede exisitir la creencia de que por ser un espacio de muelle de la prefectura no se puede pasar. Lo bueno de haber ido con Sandra es que ella tenía claro que se podía pasar y nos llevó de visita hasta ahí para que no nos fuéramos de Ushuaia sin conocer estos paisajes ❤️.
On its shore, the lake also had a small trail with some greenery if you wanted to spread out and walk a little more. This lake has more than 600 km2 and it shares a part with our neighboring country Chile, although only a little bit because 90% of it is inside our territory. According to what Sandra told us, it is very dangerous to kayak in this lake because so much water volume generates big waves, unlike other calm and mirrored lakes. So if you want to do this activity here, you should be brave enough 😃.
En su costa, el lago también tenía un pequeño sendero con algo de verde por si querés esparcirte y caminar un poco más. Este lago tiene más de 600 km2 y se comparte un parte con nuestro país vecino Chile, aunque solo un poco porque el 90% está dentro de nuestro territorio. Según lo que nos contó Sandra, en este lago es muy peligroso hacer kayak porque tanto volumen de agua genera olas grandes, a diferencia de otros lagos tranquilos y espejados. Así que si querés hacer esta actividad por acá, la valentía no tiene que faltarte 😃.
The ride with Sandra was one of the most opportune I did because for only $8 per person we were able to have an informal excursion that lasted about six hours and covered many distant points of the city of Ushuaia. I thought it was a great initiative of the neighbors to organize these tours with their private vehicles because both parties benefit, since in official agencies these types of tours are usually much more expensive. I was also glad to have visited Lake Fagnano and to have been able to draw my own conclusion about it: in the end, it was as beautiful as I had been told ❣️.
El paseo con Sandra fue uno de los más oportunos que hice porque por solo $8 por persona pudimos tener una excursión informal que en total duró unas seis horas recorriendo muchos puntos lejanos de la ciudad de Ushuaia. Me pareció una gran iniciativa de los vecinos organizar estos paseos con sus vehículos particulares porque ambas partes se benefician, ya que en las agencias oficiales este tipo de tours suelen ser mucho más costosos. También me alegré de haber conocido el Lago Fagnano y poder haber sacado mi propia conclusión sobre él: al final, era tan lindo como me habían dicho ❣️.

El lago más grande de Cuba es de unos escasos kilómetros cuadrados y cuando lo visité lo vi inmenso 😬. Imagino que el Lago Fagnano con sus 600km cuadrados, sería como mirar el mar!! Me alegro que hayas podido dar ese recorrido por un precio tan asequible. Lindas fotos, gracias por compartir.
