Introduction: It's My First Day on Hive, and It Feels Good To Here

in Freewriters3 years ago (edited)

As the saying goes: the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. The steps either results positive of negative. The level of information that people are exposed to liberates them. What makes the difference between the rich and the poor is how they made use of the information they exposed to.

This can only be made possible by associating with quality people.
My journey on Hive blog began by associating with the right people. Associating with the people that matter will always bring numerous positive results. I first had about Hive from and @judicious. He explained what Hive blog is about, but I did not really understand. I left the idea for a month before a revisited.

Through, at first, I tried signing up, but when I clicked the sign up button, I became a little confused because I read that: there are keys I have to keep safe, that there is no option of password reset. Immediately I saw this, I sent a message to me that; he will help me with the signing up process when we see physically, as our initial communication was over phone.

Our physical meeting was made possible recently. But this time, physical meeting was a good one, as @judicious introduced me to his friend who is also a member of Hive blog @polaleye50. His friend asked me what I know about Hive, I told him uncle explained to me but up till that time I have not been able to register. I listened attentively, has he took me through another round of explanation.

He told me that compared to other platforms like Facebook, Twitter and the likes, this platform is a decentralized platform that controlled by the public and there is no limit to the monetary reward I can have access to on this platform, as long as I am consistent. He also enlighten me about the different niches that are embedded in Hive, and that I can post in different niches share my opinions and also earn, depending on the niche that catch my fancy.

He assisted me with the signing up, and now I am a member of this great community. I was advised to do an introductory post. And here I am with my introduction. I guess you are pleased to meet me.

About Me

DSC_1917.JPG

I am a graduate of two great universities in Nigeria. Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan respectively. I studied Microbiology at Obafemi Awolowo University. I studied Herbal medicine at Post graduate level in the University of Ibadan.
My pursuit of higher degree started in 2018, November to be precise. I had the opportunity to where matriculation gown for the first time. As it happens to everyone leaving high school for college, I was so excited.

But, why was I excited in my own case?

I was excited because I finally gained admission into the University after the third attempt. In Nigeria, to enter into college, there is a transition examination that an individual must do called UME (University Matriculation Exam), conducted by Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), the exam is now called UTME (University Tertiary Matriculation Exam).

Obafemi Awolowo University as a motto, which reads: ‘’For Learning and Culture”. Because of this, their cut off mark as never been less than 200 marks. They have maintained that standard over the years, and they have never compromise. So, on my third attempt, I did all the necessary preparation in order to exceed the cut off mark. I actually made it above the cut off mark, but the mark did not allow me to enter for my first choice which was Medicine and Surgery. I had to go with the second choice which was Microbiology if I must gain admission that year.

I eventually graduated after some years (it exceed my supposed year of graduation). This was as a result of strike actions embarked upon by workers agitating on salary increment, Protest (Aluta) on the part of students sometimes agitate for provision of basic amenities within the school. For each of these artificial breaks caused by strike action or protest, I never failed to add value to myself in other area apart from academics. During those time, I started developing my writing skills by writing short poems, I learnt how to pattern and sew cloths, I learnt how to pattern and sew different types of bags, I learnt how to make hats and fascinators, I learnt how to do wire work and also flower vase making. I was never idle no matter how long the strike was.
After my graduation in 2015, I waited for call up letter for NYSC (National Youth Service Corps). NYSC is a year mandatory program for all Nigerian graduates, above 30 years of age. However, there is exemption for people who are above 30, of which they must collect their exemption letter. I received up my call up letter in 2016. I was to serve my father land in Ogun state, Nigeria. Again, I was overjoyed because I was posted to the south west. I resumed NYSC Orientation Camp Sagamu, Ogun state in April 2016.
Life in camp was not easy because we had to wake up very early to have our bath, in order to avoid lateness to the parade ground. There are a lot of that made the camp interesting like man o war drill, training for the welcome parade, early morning meditation on the camp field, cooking competition, beauty pageant and church activities. The church activities usually take place in the evening, where I fellowship with the NCCF (National Christian Corps Fellowship).

After three (3) weeks, I received a posting letter and discovered that I was posted to Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government. Though I did not like it because I suspected it was a rural area. When I got there courtesy NCCF, I counted myself lucky after some days after other Corp members had gone to check the PPA (Place of Primary Assignment). What was the major reason why I counted myself lucky?
Ayetoro happened to be a developed rural area, because it stood out for the presence of tarred roads when compared to other places within the local government, which is not reachable by car, but motorcycles, due to the narrow untarred roads. The transportation fare was 1000 naira per person, but two people can decide to start on a bike and pay 500 naira each.

During CDS (Community Development Service), all Corp members in the local government usually come to the local government secretariat once a month to do their clearance, to enable their allawee (allowance) to be processed every month.
At the end of the service year, we were awarded a certificate of completion. I started back in Ogun state to work for some months, before I finally left for my state (Osun state). I got another teaching offer in my Osun and I worked there for a bit. Along the line, I applied for Postgraduate Diploma in the University of Ibadan. In late 2017, I was invited for their English Proficiency Exam. I wrote the exam and I passed. I received my admission letter in early 2018, where I was given the offer to study Herbal medicine. After paying the necessary fees, I participated in the departmental orientation in the first week of resumption and lectures kickstarted.

I enjoyed every bit of the lecture, because I got to discover that plants have various medicinal uses for treatment of diseases.
At the end of my studies in the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, I was able to produce two products Known as Kunnugi Beverage and Kunnu Tea which is known to possess antimicrobial activities. The products improved version of the locally made drinks called “Kunnu Zaki”.

The products have been exhibited twice in the University of Ibadan Trade fair in the year 2018 and 2019 respectively. And was adjudged one of the best product during the exhibition. Customers that had bought in the previous year also gave positive feedback about the products. It has a longer shelf life compared to the locally made ‘’Kunnu Zaki’’.
As part of the effort to move my writing skills forward this year, I wrote a book titled “The Attraction Field”. Which I will write about in my next article.
It is presently available on Amazon. Feel free to purchase and recommend for your family and friend. Also, you can leave positive reviews for me, if you eventually make a purchase.

Thank you for taking out time to read my introduction Hive Community.

Hello @sharonpeace! This is @traciyork from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) curation team. We noticed you shared your first post here on Hive and introduced yourself to the community - congratulations and welcome!

Speaking of community, we have many different ones here on the blockchain, devoted to all kinds of interests. Here's a link so you can check them all out - Hive Communities

Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.

In addition, since you're new, you may run into an RC (Resource Credits) error when trying to comment/post because you don't yet have enough Hive in your account yet. For assistance with a temporary delegation to get you started, be sure to check out the Gift Giver site.

If you have questions, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server and we'll do our best to answer them, and again welcome to Hive!

Thank you so much. I find this information very useful. I will put to heart the instructions gathered.

Welcome to hive

Thanks for the warm welcome

Welcome to the Hive community @sharonpeace!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and publish and do everything except Wallet with the Posting key
  2. Use your Active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, Hivesigner, and Hivelock,
  3. The Owner key and the Master password are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; but copy and store them offline in a safe place,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once, and
  7. Do Not click on any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.
