Hiking The Incredible Hendrie Valley

in Pinmapple16 days ago (edited)

Hendrie Valley trails bring you through a 100 hectare large nature sanctuary in Aldershot Ontario. The start of the trail is at the tip of Hamilton's bay and you will find a lot of people fishing and very wide paved walkways. Even a few relaxing geese with their babies!

After a short walk, you will come to a sign and map for the trail. Which turns into a dirt trail along a river.

It is along this section of trail that the wildlife starts to become very visible and looking for food, thankfully I brought some seed to lure them in for photos.

After a 20 minute walk the river goes through wetlands and the trail turns into a raised wood walkway, with birds flying around everywhere!

When the raised walkway ends, you are at a trail that loops through a small forest. That is filled with squirrels, chipmunks, and many more animals. On this trip we only saw those two though.

The valley and marsh is beautiful! The abundance of wildlife is incredible! And I only saw a small fraction of animals that can be seen there. In previous visits I have seen turtles, frogs, hawks, owls, ducks and swans, salamanders and I am probably forgetting others lol.

For easy and relaxed trails, this is one of the best that Southern Ontario has to offer and is a great place to spend an afternoon!
