To talk about the success of this series would be redundant, many have already made their review and all those who reach to read agree on how wonderful this series is, there are also those who ended up disappointed by not receiving a dose of Japanese combat, it is understandable because we have been used to that, but this series gave us a wonderful story and that works very well as a miniseries, at least I hope so.

Hablar sobre el éxito de esta serie seria redundar, mucho ya han hecho su review y todos los que alcance a leer concuerdan en lo maravillosa que es esta serie, también hay quienes terminaron decepcionados al no recibir una dosis de combate japones, es entendible porque a eso hemos estado acostumbrados, pero esta serie nos entrego una historia maravillosa y que funciona muy bien como miniserie, por lo menos eso espero.
What makes this series wonderful for me is the construction of its characters, based on the behavior of characters from Japanese history but with significant modifications that give it a complex but charming nuance. The disappointment of many is because they believe that the series would be a faithful copy of the book or of the Japanese history of the 1600s with the beginning of the Tokugawa era.
Lo que hace maravillosa esta serie para mi es la construcción de sus personajes, basados en el comportamiento de personajes de la historia de Japón pero con modificaciones significativas que le dan un matiz complejo pero encantador. La decepción de muchos se da porque creen que la serie seria una copia fidedigna del libro o de la historia japonesa de los años 1600 con el inicio de la era Tokugawa.
A masterful construction of characters
For a moment I was one of those who waited patiently episode after episode for the battle of Sekigahara where Tokugawa is victorious to be consecrated as shogun, remember that the protagonist of the series Toranaga is based on this person in history. At the end of the series we discover that showing the battle was completely unnecessary, the war was already won since the first chapter of the series.

Por un momento fui uno de esos que espero pacientemente episodio tras episodio la batalla de Sekigahara donde Tokugawa sale victorioso para consagrarse como shogun, recordemos que el protagonista de la serie Toranaga esta basado en este persona de la historia. Al final de la serie descubrimos que mostrar la batalla fue completamente innecesario, la guerra ya estaba ganada desde el primer capitulo de la serie.
Those people who waited for the war until the end were victims of the genius of the series, the character of Toranaga from the beginning not only deceives his subjects that he wanted peace, he also deceives the audience, from the beginning he had guided his hawks (subjects) to the positions he wanted to fulfill the objectives, achieving all his objectives that is why it was not necessary to show us the war.
Esas personas que esperaron la guerra hasta el final fueron victimas de la genialidad de la serie, el personaje de Toranaga desde el principio no solo engaña a sus súbditos que deseaba la paz, también engaña a la audiencia, desde un principio había guiado a sus halcones (súbditos) a las posiciones que deseaba para cumplir los objetivos, logrando todo sus objetivos que por eso no fue necesario mostrarnos la guerra.

Pero no todo es malo, Shogun como serie podría no continuar, lo que si continuaría es la historia de los demás libros escritos por James Clavell.
The Asian saga by James Clavell
I don't know if you know but James Clavell wrote a series of books known as The Saga of Asia, six books that tell the beginning of the shogunate in the 1600's and end in the 20th century telling the different stages of the cultural shock that Japan suffered with the arrival of the Europeans.
The books are not chronologically related, it could be said that the book that follows Shogun in time is the book Tai-Pan, but this was written 9 years earlier, however, it relates events 200 years after the history of Shogun. This story could work perfectly as a continuation, placing us in the time where the English take Hong Kong which unleashes a war for the control of opium with Japan.
No se si sabían pero James Clavell escribió una serie de libros que es conocida como La Saga de Asia, seis libros que cuenta el inicio del shogunato en los años 1600 y terminan en el siglo XX relatando las distintas etapas del choque cultural que sufrió Japón con la llegada de los europeos.
Los libros no guardan relación cronológica, se podría decir que el libro que le sigue en tiempo a Shogun es el libro Tai-Pan, pero este fue escrito años 9 años, sin embargo, relata acontecimientos 200 años después de la historia de Shogun. Esta historia podría funcionar perfectamente como una continuación, ubicándonos en el tiempo donde los ingleses toman Hong Kong lo que desata una guerra por el control del opio con Japón.

I think that if Disney develops the other Clavell books like Tai-Pan it would be a success but without a direct relationship with Shogun as a second season, if this happens, we would be facing the preamble of what will be one of the great sagas in the history of cinema and television.
Creo que si desarrollan los demás libro de Clavell como Tai-Pan seria todo un éxito pero sin una relación directa con Shogun como una segunda temporada, de darse esto, estaríamos ante el preámbulo de lo que será una de las grandes sagas de la historia del cine y la televisión.
