I just Powered Up 100 Hive to bring my total HP to 105 988 Hive Power...
The thing about Hive having dipped in price is that it's a good time to stack a little more and Power Up.
This is naturally what anyone supporting the Hive ecosystem would be doing during times like these.
This means my overall increase in Hive Power over April was around 1500 Hive.

April on Hive....
We saw some nice prices in early April, maybe due to the Bitcoin Halving I think, but ever since a bit of a drop, but to my mind this is just a good time to buy a little more and Power Up a little more.
The new LeoDex launched, linked to Maya. Predictably this didn't send LEO to the moon as some people in the LEO bubble seemed to think it might, but it certainly can't hurt the price of LEO or Hive in the long wrong.
And I'm still broadly supportive of the developments being made with LeoDex and on InLeo, although I've concluded Premium isn't worth it for me. I don't understand the voting policy, clearly certain members of the in crowd get phat upvotes for average quality posts, my level seems to get me just above covering my subscription fee. Besides, I don't like the feel of pay for vote which is what that model is. It just feels a little dirty.
I played some Splinterlands matches for about a week, before bowing out again because a. I am crap, mainly that, but also b. I'm not prepared to spend another £2000 topping up my deck to be able to max out certain cards I would need to win higher up the leagues!
Much easier to rent and skim, but this is what everyone is doing hence the slow death it is dying ATM.
We just need fresh bull-meet basically. More patience required, but I'm mentally preparing myself for this Vest to go to 0.
Writing on Hive in April...
As with previous months I've been enjoying myself commenting on various news events, mainly.
I'm getting into the habit of reading The Week, and listening to a lot of Radio 4, there's always topical issues to write about, and Hive is a great platform for those personal view type posts!
Come to think of this it's local elections tomorrow I believe, could be worth a post!
In the meantime not a lot left to say other than happy May Day Power Up 2024!!!

I am curious, what is your 100% vote value for 100K hive?
It's $3.30 according to HiveStats.
So, if I want $50/day, with 10 votes, I may need 200k, I presume. Not bad!

I am gradually climbing up the HP holders ranks and it's good to see others getting a good stake. I did notice one just above me that has been inactive since 2016. They are getting the ~3% on their HP, but I wonder if they lost the keys. It's the same on 'the other place', so that's a nice amount that will sit there forever.
I will vote later, but it's just for the PCC. Most people don't care about that.
I keep up on some current affairs, but I'm not too motivated to post about those. Do you think there's much audience for it on Hive? What we need is far more people to get good discussions going. I see more of that on Mastodon, but that is also a fairly geeky crowd.
I get most comments on Hive type posts, then on Current Affairs, least on running and SL....
So there is some engement there at least.
Great to see you climbing up the rankings. I've noticed a few dormant accounts too. Is HiveBuzz still working to track all of that stuff..?!?
It's always been the case that posts about Hive tend to do best, but I like to see variety and it's fun to get a discussion going in the comments. Bland comments that don't further the conversation are boring.
I could try some HiveSQL queries on dormant accounts when I find time.

Congrats on your powerup! I continued with my plan which now means powering up only 10 HP on HPUDs (on @gadrian-sp). But that doesn't mean I haven't taken advantage of these prices to buy more HIVE. I am also withdrawing from HBD savings, if these discounts last a few more days, I won't hesitate.

Hey we got elections on Sunday probably going to be the worst ever since there are no fresh faces and they are all corrupt, at least Hive is not pluming down, seems those who daily sell know this levels are like shooting their own foot so we basically loosing value because of BTC but not drastically, I'm still debating in y head if to take my HBD out of savings and dump it into HIVE 🤔😅 good luck on the elections ✌️

One of the places I work is used as a polling station ... there's quite a ritual to it. A friend is the presiding officer at a polling station in one of the posh villages. She told me it was a very part-time job.

The problem with the game for me is that the team keeps trying to reinvent the wheel: going with soulbounds, stakings, different formulas for this and that, instead of taking care of the real problem of the game for years. And while the main problem is not adressed, I can't see it picking up pace again; I would LOVE to be wrong, though.

Bots, and the changes to deal with them: you lost normal reward cards to have sb cards so the bots couldn't hoard massive amounts and dump. Then someone had the bright idea not only to provide reward summoners to every splinter, but also to give them the ability to use the strongest cards in normal gameplay, the ones "that will only be usable in brawls". Fast forward now, you have accounts that can basically spam sb cards and just a few regular cards and win a good % of matches, especially in lower leagues. Even more now, where there isn't even a card level limit.
So basically we now have one game mode (modern) for normal play, where a "new player experience" consists on trying to battle maxed cards a good part of the time, against summoners that likely cannot be obtained/ leveled to a decent level for months even with a lot of gameplay, that can utilize cards that require a player to be in a guild, participate in brawls, and play for months to get gladius cards AND have the luck to get some of the decent ones. Or as an alternative, a game mode (wild) filled with the same problems AND bots with decent AI.
I've seen tons of different solutions to try and damage bots without hurting the casual player, but none of the above issues adressed; and as I've said in the past, everything that will affect bots will affect human players as well, unless we ban them. And won't even touch on the subject that with deck rotation, either you spend thousands on a semi-competitive deck, or you'll have to play in bot heaven every couple of years.
There you have it. I'd love to hear something that proves me wrong. :)

Something else I hate are these league tables - massive whales get guaranteed rewards anyone outside the t100 gets a chance of getting something - my response to that is to spend £0.
Yep, I find myself unwilling to spend more than the ocasional card or pack too. Let's hope for brighter times!
