Society's Standards vs. Self-Acceptance: The Beauty Dilemma

in Daily Blog16 days ago (edited)

Beauty is subjective and I believe it's the reason why we say it lies in the eyes of the beholder. Whatever may seem beautiful to one may be awful to another. Which means we all define beauty in our own unique way. There is big issue now in today's society as we people try to define beauty. Beauty now seems to have a common definition by the society instead of the different ways individuals have defined it. Those who alter their appearance do so just to conform to society's narrow standards of beauty.

Cosmetic surgeries and body enhancements have become common in our world today. It's happening because individuals have often been driven by a desire to fit into societal ideals rather than appreciating their natural self. There is now too much pressure on those who wants to meet the beauty standard set by society. This causes them to undergo different surgical procedures is different parts of their bodies to either modify or enhance their outlook. The sad thing is how they end up regretting their actions later.

Life is always satisfying when we appreciate how we were made and refuse to let others define us. The power to define beauty lies within each of us; we are the ones that can truly define who we are. Appreciating ones beauty is personal journey of self-discovery and acceptance. It's not about what people say about how you look but how you see yourself. Beauty isn't about undergoing medical procedures or the use of too much cosmetics.

It's about how you choose to celebrate your natural features that make you stand out among the billions of people we have in our world. The key to achieving it is understanding and appreciating your unique identity. Why should the world dictates to us how we should look and how we should live our lives? Those who always follow trends and consider societal norms only end up living a societal kind of life with a lost identity. We need to understand our differences, but should never let what one perceives as beautiful define us all.

Whether we are black or white, tall or short, it is our inherent uniqueness that sets us apart and makes us all beautiful in our own way. We need to have this kind of knowledge and understanding and issues such as racism, body shaming will never have a negative effects on our self-esteem and mental well-being. God created us all beautiful people, just appreciate the real you, there is no sense in trying to be what you are not. True beauty isn't achived through artifical alterations but achieved when we choose to accept who we are and embrace our uniqueness.
