“ Why do Gen Z post less but they have more stories on their instagram?”

I’ve been seeing some questions like that around podcasts and the answer is really intriguing. Among many, one that caught my attention is basically that Gen Z feels they don’t have anything worthy to post but would rather share shorts of their whole 24 hours to the world. One of the answers also mentioned how they also prefer things that are shorts and never stay more than 24hr. While to me, I wonder if a lot of us started to realize the importance of privacy.

Do you share everything online? Do you let your kids share their life online?

The generation alpha who pretty much grew up with the internet, somehow finds their entire lives is already documented somewhere around the web. Their parents post their pictures and it’s like they are already born with a digital identity that perhaps, they aren’t aware of. I find all this interesting that maybe one day it’ll backfire, who knows. I think there has to be some sort of filter but some people are posting their entire lives. Or perhaps before all this internet awareness, we were all guilty of it. Beats me.

Gen Z and Whatnots

I find this generational boxing idea pretty fascinating. It’s like we are grouped, collectively and eerily share similar traits. For me, as older gen Z, I find myself drifting apart because I am not too old to be millennial but also not too young to be an actual Gen Z. During the time I grew up, it has always been a transition phase. I had a phone since I was a kid but then android became a thing and soon after, smartphone was a part of me growing up. Same with online games and social media that only started kicking out when I was a kid. But this idea of the boxing generation is drifting away too from my mind as I am having my coffee. So, maybe we’ll continue the talk sooner or later. But today that is already gone from my mind.

Honestly, today I have too much to think that they are all pretty jumbled. I wanted to do so many things and try out new things but sometimes I am confused on how to divide my time. I guess this month, I’ll have to learn to be patient and take things one step at a time rather than hoping everything will happen in just one go.

bla bla bla

You know, maybe I’ll look back again at these notes and see how silly things are. Just like everything I have written these last 6 years that sometimes I check out and find them hilarious. Yet sometimes, I feel proud because I am going through some character development and I am going to be 27 in a few days.

Hello dear friend @macchiata good morning
These are many questions and to answer them you have to take them calmly, I don't think that the Alpha generation shares their entire life on the web, I think there is always something that one keeps to themselves
It is true that Generation Z prefers to make short posts, rather than investing time creating decent content.
You do a great job on the web, you are admirable
Have a great day

always something that one keeps to themselves

Maybe that's the case but even the other day, I watched this kid selling his mom for crypto money 😂and it wasn't the first time I encountered such kind. Maybe afterall, they are a lot tech savvy than a lot of us.

Yes, meeting those types of people is terrifying, but have no doubt that young people have more technological knowledge than us.

It's good to have some realization as you age.

that's true!

To be very honest I would have thought you to be the last of the millennial or the beginning of Gen Z, but the biggest observation I see Gen Z is temperament and automated entitlement.
Because of Internet, a lot of things are automated.
Because of Internet, its exciting to tell the world what they are up to.
Because of Internet, everything is instant and it has to be beautifully pictured out.
(I think this point all generations have it. That is called pride)
Because of Internet, instant becomes a norm.

Gen Alpha is kind of Gen Z but has the "privilege" to see the craziness from entitled Gen Z (the translucid ones) and some either get sucked into the imprisonment or becomes the exact opposite and obnoxious 🙈

Either way, every generation needs to go through trials to be a real human.

I am actually the oldest Gen Z-s by standard but it never feels that way :D

I notice kids these days and even myself don't like something that takes time. We certainly lack of patience. I wonder if Gen Alpha will be better than us but we'll have to see in a few years if they indulge the same thing as Gen Z or even its older generation.

Gen Alpha feels like they're from another dimension at times 😆

I find the stereotyping or boxing in a demographic a convenient way to getting a concrete profile of a target market. Or maybe I'm just biased about it since whenever these terms get brought up from my reading, they are aligned with something related to marketing and social media. By creating that division and highlighting those differences, it creates some market opportunities as young don't want to be lumped with the old and vice versa. It's sort of appealing to legacy building and a ego where our generation built that. Well, that's how I view one dimension in boxing generations anyway.

I think that term is mostly made as that. Usually those statistic are used for marketing research purpose to layout each generation preference which often the end goal is often about " how can we extract money from this demographic"
