I wouldn't say it is not important, with rep 78 and a 3$ upvote you play in a different league like a Spanish speaking newbie or even a normal user. ;)

It’s not as important as it used to be.
I can say for myself that I never check that tag to curate. Also with @aliento we never check for it.
The biggest curation project that used to curate that tag, and it actually was the one that created the tag, is no longer active on Hive.
So no, I don’t think that is that important to use it anymore. It doesn’t make a huge difference in my opinion.
