Day 4 and 5 of EBC

in #trekking19 days ago

Yesterday, I absolutely had no network after reaching my hotel in the evening. Today, after completing our trek for the day, when I came to the hotel, it was the same story, so I bought the Internet connection of 24 hrs. I wanted to connect with my family as they were also worried about me.

Both days have been very exhausting. I keep moving ahead, and it just does not seem to get over. Specially yesterday, again we had a 3 hr climb, which at my pace took me 3.5 hrs. Today, there were climbs, and they were gradual, but yesterday's exhaustion was too much, so today, I also felt heavy. Today, there was a lot of straight walk as well.

Finally, I have reached an elevation level of 4410 meters/ 14470 feet. It is such an incredible achievement for me. There were a lot of challenges on the way, but after completing it, the pride that I feel is way bigger than those challenges.

As I keep moving up, not only the oxygen but everything gets scarce. A bottle of water at my current location Dingboche costs 4 $, and a bucket of hot water for a bath costs me 6$, and the Internet is also 6$.
There is a toilet in the room with a flush, ofcourse for which I paid a premium price but besides that there's no water connection, so morning for brushing my teeth I have to go to the common bathroom. Today in my room, I have no plug point to charge my phone. I have carried a power bank, which I will have to start using going forward. It will charge my phone 4 times, so hopefully, it should be enough for the rest of the trek.

Life comes to the bare minimum in this place. And that's the whole deal of this trek. It's just not about the climb but so many other things.

Yesterday, day 4, I trekked from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche, where the starting elevation was 11,290 ft / 3,440 meters and the ending elevation waa 12,687 ft / 3,867 meters. They say the trek time is 4 hrs, but honestly, it took me 7 hrs, and almost everyone in the line took that much time. May be if you run then you can do it in 4 hrs.

Today, I trekked from Tengboche to Dingboche, where the starting elevation is 12,697 ft / 3,870 meters, and the ending elevation is 14,469 ft / 4,410 meters. Again here they say the trek time is 3.30 hrs but I took 6.30.

Yes, on both days, it includes lunchtime, which would be maxfor 45 minutes.

I am sharing some pictures from both days

I am following your journey on a map as well as your blog! 😁 A little ways past Lobuche, the map shows a "Pyramid" of some sort, perhaps a pyramid-shaped ice formation on a glacier, or a pyramid-shaped peak. It might be something fun to look for, or ask your guide about.

You are such a strong, determined woman! I can't express how much I admire you and how proud of you I am, for your making this journey! We should have given you a HIVE flag to plant at Everest Base Camp when you arrive! 😂

I found info about the "Pyramid" that I mentioned in the above comment! According to this blog by a guy who has hiked to the Everest Base Camp in the past:

"It is a three-story glass, aluminum, and steel scientific research center with the mission of studying environment, climate, human physiology, and geology in a remote mountain area – more formally known as The Pyramid International Laboratory/Observatory"

By the way, this shot of yours is simply stunning!

What an awesome adventure. Beautiful photos.

Everyday the view of your trek is getting more beautiful. It might be so tiring but the nature will keep you stay active. Take care.

That's so true, all the way the views have been stunning but today and tomorrow they will disappear as we ascend higher up.

Good luck and stay hydrated as you go up higher. I'll be looking forward to see the next activities. 🫶

Wow that last but 5 picture seems like you were in the clouds
Wow, keep pushing

Yes, the views around are breathtaking

Congratulations on the success of your Day 4 trekking ma'am.

Thank you

Welcome ma'am.😊

Thank you Ma'am @nainaztengra for sharing the beautiful sceneries in the area while trekking. The place is refreshing and so peaceful. I also like the infrastructures on the area. It is so unique.

Its a mountain region and life is way behind then our city lives. It feels like going back in time and that's also a good experience

Why does a bottle of water cost $4?
It’s so much
A bottle of water here is $0.15

That's true and it keeps getting expensive as we move up. It goes up to 6$ at the base camp. Nothing is available or made at the top, these people have to bring every single thing from down the city and there is no automated transport. It's either brought on some animal back or local people carry it. It's really tough with the given path so the prices also go up as we ascend

Being at 4400 meters is a big thing in itself, especially for our lungs. Whatever time the guides or hill people say, understand that it will take double the time for the general public.
Did you see Everest from Dingboche? A wonderful view of Ama Dablam is visible. The journey is challenging for you but I am enjoying seeing the photos.

Oh the weather was a spoiler. I have still not had the glimpse of the Everest and I feel so annoyed with that. Anyways tomorrow we reach the base camp and then to kalapathar so from there the view is surely going to be there

I hope you will get a good and clear view of everest. Have a safe journey ahead

Thank you so much

You deserve it🥰

Infact before I continue reading, having no network is literally like jail time to me... Not that I've even seen a real life jail before.😂

Yes, it feels so different being without these things but that's what we learn in these type of places

Absolutely 👌 absolutely

my dear Nainu, I'm inspiring looking at you! I don't know why I was sure you'll face snow anywhere while trekking;) I see no snow;)
