On May 10, Venezuela commemorates the National Day of the Plastic Artist to celebrate the birth of an artist who made history with his irreverence and his way of painting light, Armando Reverón.
On this day the exhibition spaces open their doors to show the public the different proposals that local artists are encouraged to share and, among those artists was me.
It was going to be a tight day as I was participating in two exhibitions, the first one at the Rafael Monasterios gallery and the second one at a university event called Encuartelados Sin Rejas. But let's go in order, I will show you what I did for the first exhibition.
I am currently working on two main lines of research, one that goes more to textile art and the other to drawing. That day I would show both proposals.

El pasado 10 de mayo se conmemora en Venezuela el Día Nacional del Artista Plástico con motivo de celebrar el nacimiento de un artista que hizo historia con su irreverencia y con su forma de pintar la luz, Armando Reverón.
Este día los espacios expositivos abren sus puertas para mostrar al público las distintas propuestas que artistas locales se animan a compartir y, entre esos artistas estaba yo.
Iba a ser un día ajustado pues estaba participando en dos exposiciones, la primera en la galería Rafael Monasterios y la segunda en un evento universitario llamado Encuartelados Sin Rejas. Pero vamos por orden, les mostrare lo que hice para la primera exposición.
Actualmente me encuentro trabajando en dos lineas principales de investigación, unas que va más al arte textil y otra al dibujo. Ese día mostraría ambas propuestas.

For the first exhibition I took the work Retazos de mi alma (2024), this work arises from pure experimentation and almost by mistakes made doing other things, but you know that I like to make the most of my “mistakes”. It is a textile work elaborated on a base of scraps of semi leather for which I used a sewing machine to draw on the fabric a heart with red thread.
In addition to that, it has canvas additions that contrast with the black of the semi-leather and add irregularity to the composition, and it also has strips of red fabric that overflow from inside the heart.

Para la primera exposición lleve la obra Retazos de mi alma (2024), esta obra surge de pura experimentación y casi que por errores cometidos haciendo otras cosas, pero saben que me gusta sacarle el jugo a mis "errores". Es una obra textil elaborada en una base de retazos de semicuero para la cual me valí del de una maquina de coser para dibujar sobre la tela un corazón con hilo rojo.
Además de eso, tiene añadiduras de lienzo que hacen contraste con lo negro del semicuero y le aportan irregularidad a la composición y también tiene unas tiras de tela roja que se desbordan desde dentro del corazón.
One of the things that encourage me to go to the openings is to talk with all the artists and friends I know, it is always good to meet and exchange opinions about the works and different topics. My friend Luz Colmenarez was also exhibiting here.
Una de las cosas que me animan a ir a las inauguraciones es ponerme a conversar con todos los señores artistas y amigos que conozco, siempre es bueno encontrarse e intercambiar opiniones de las obras y de distintos temas. Aquí también estaba exponiendo mi amiga Luz Colmenarez.
The truth is that this exhibition was quite varied, there were 58 artists who participated and we decided to show our work there.
La verdad esta exposición estuvo bastante variada, fueron 58 artistas los que participamos y decidimos mostrar nuestro trabajo allí.

Well, here are some photos of the room in general and some of the works that I liked a lot. Although I could not stay long there and settle down to take a story I enjoyed sharing in this exhibition, but now I had to run to the second stop of the day.
Bueno les adjunto varias fotos en general de la sala y de obras que me gustaron bastante. A pesar de que no pude estar mucho tiempo allí e instalarme a echar cuento disfrute bastante de compartir en esta exposición, pero ahora tenia que salir corriendo a la segunda parada del día.

Together with Luz we quickly went to the headquarters of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Art (IMCA) which is right next to the Dean of Humanities and Arts (DEHA) where I studied my university career. This time I was not participating as a student but as a graduate of the institution that helped me to give meaning to what I do in my life.
Here they do the event Encuartelados Sin Rejas, on this occasion it was the X edition and taking into account, I had the opportunity to participate the first time the event was born when I was just in the second semester of the race. As soon as I arrived I found out that my work had a mention and I was pleasantly surprised.

Junto a Luz nos fuimos rápido a la sede del Instituto Municipal de Cultura y Arte (IMCA) que queda justo al lado del Decanato de Humanidades y Arte (DEHA) lugar donde estudie mi carrera universitaria. Estaba vez no participaba como estudiante si no como egresada de la institución que me ayudo a darle sentido a lo que hago en mi vida.
Aquí hacen el evento Encuartelados Sin Rejas, en esta ocasión era la edición número X y sacando cuentas, he tenido la oportunidad de participar la primera vez que nació el evento cuando apenas estaba en el segundo semestre de la carrera. Apenas llegue me entere que mi obra tuvo una mención y me sorprendió gratamente.

This work entitled Un día de muerte (2021) consists of 35 drawings that together narrate a routine day while living through the pandemic and is made in India ink on cardboard. Several times I was asked how depressed I was when I did this work, but everyone can have the interpretation they want.

Esta obra titulada Un día de muerte (2021) consta de 35 dibujos que en conjunto narran un día de rutina mientras vivía la pandemia y esta realizada en tinta china sobre cartulina. Varias veces me preguntaron que tan deprimida estaba cuando hice esta obra, pero cada quien puede tener la interpretación que desee.

That mention came with two prizes, one from a stationery store where there was a box of Prismacolor premier colors with which I am very satisfied and another one that I will claim next Monday because it is an interview with the artist Armando Villalón, I will tell you how it went.
Esa mención venia con dos premios, uno de una papelería donde venia una caja de colores premier de Prismacolor con la cual estoy muy satisfecha y otro que voy a reclamar el próximo lunes porque se trata de una entrevista con el artista plástico Armando Villalón, ya les contare como fue.
