So about 2 years ago we made our way into the capital city of Ghana for our Christmas holidays. As Muslims we don’t normally prioritize these type of holidays cause sincerely nobody send us lol.

This time round we had finished attachment and my aunty decided to invite us to come and spend the Christmas holidays with her. I for one was really excited about this because mostly our Christmas holidays are really boring.

So after we stayed there for a while my aunt told us we could go visit the National museum to kill our boredom. We thought it was a great idea so why not. So we made our way to the national museum and this is what I have to say about the art part.

Am not a big lover of art so obviously I didn’t take a lot of pictures of the art side but the ones I took were okay by my standards.

So this part of the gallery is mainly focused On a Ghanaian artist who goes by Mr Peter Joejoe Abdallah. Mr Joejoe has a mental health condition which forces him to spend his time at the Accra psychiatric hospital. Even though he has a mental illness he still finds the right frame of mind to make time for his God given talent. I call it God given taken because being able to think about things in your mind and recreate them on a sheet of paper is something really unique.

With Mr Abdallah’s situation it’s beyond the word unique as he’s even faced with a situation that many people can’t comprehend.

When you enter his side of the gallery you’re introduced to an awesome drawing of Jesus playing with children and animals.

Mr Abdallah’s main concentration for his art is around the slave trade that happened some years ago in Gold Coast. It was really centred around that particular area.

In the museum Mr Abdallah has a whole place for his art work. Because of his condition the Ghana museum helps him in exhibiting his work when ever he needs a space and they also help him in selling them. Most of his works that I saw are fascinating in my opinion which I think are worth spending on.

Apart from using it as a medium to talk about space trade it is also used as a medium to educate us on several topics just like the one with the Jesus portrait.

We have something like that over here I think it’s called the place of no return.

Thanks for sharing🥰
