Here you can see pictures of dwarf orange avens, which is also known under the scientific name Geum Coccineum and originally comes from Greece, Asia Minor and some parts of the Balkans where it is mainly widespread in the mountain regions. During the 19th century it appeared for the first time in Europe and it did not take long until it became popular as an ornamental plant where it quickly spread in gardens and can now also be found in the wild. The orange flowers are extremely interesting from an ecological point of view and the flowering period begins as early as May and attracts numerous different species of insects and is particularly often visited by bumblebees, bees, butterflies or hoverflies. The color has an intense luminosity and gives the garden a very special elegance and it is highly recommended both on the balcony or in the garden and there is hardly anything to consider when it comes to the right care and is considered extremely robust and can easily survive cool winters and depending on the weather, even several flowers are possible within a year. It is best to choose a location that is in the full sun or in partial shade and it is extremely robust against vermin or snails and it can sometimes do without water for longer periods and is recommended for anyone who is looking for something easy to care for, which is also valuable for insects. It is also deeply rooted in history and some species were considered as a magical plant that can help to protect against negative influences and mainly for these purposes the plant was worn as an amulet and it was also considered an important medicinal plant which has already been mentioned by the Roman scholar Pliny the elder and because of the high effectiveness against various diseases it was cultivated on a large scale. Here it is important to mention that the medical effect can vary depending on the type and you should always consult your doctor or pharmacist when it comes to the correct use as well as possible side effects!
