Happy Sunday and in the USA (I don't know about any place else)... it is Mother's Day as well.
I'm having a discomboobalated weekend. As soon as I typed that, I started choking on a nerd, a nerd gummy cluster to be exact. Some of the tangy juice went down the wrong way. Don't you hate when that happens ??? I guess I deserve that, eating such a thing and with the way the rest of the weekend has been going, I guess I should have just stayed in bed, just to be safe... but no.
I thought I was posting this day before yesterday and then again yesterday.... but no. Most of the reason had been that I couldn't seem to take a decent photo to use as a cover. What??? you say? I know ! That's what I was saying too.
Yesterday though, after I had worked all morning on mandatory OT for my job, I had moved over to my desk and had began this post, when my Mother called.
Before she called, my head had my day semi-lined up, make a post, light chores, lots of fun art practicing and maybe cleaning up my front porch somewhere in there, but during the call, I was smacked back to reality. Although I have known this for weeks, I had momentarily forgotten that we were doing this gathering today. What?? again... I know ! I've thought about it every day nearly, but yesterday, NOPE! So all of the sudden ALL the plans changed. No going to take more photos to hopefully capture a cover. No light chores and art....now I had to scramble to get another gift (I had one over two weeks ago, but it ended up turning into a second birthday present for her last Tuesday) (a story for another time, thanks to my lamebrain family).... of course when I call them lamebrain, yesterday I fit right into that category myself ! Off I went to grab a giftcard to one of Mom's favorite stores and then some baking.... Sheesh !.... posting, whisked away by the crazy breeze....
Finally, this morning in the natural light and with some determination, I finally got a shot that was almost decent and here I am !
It doesn't really have a name, but as you'll see in the next animation, the base layer had gear shapes and some ended up on top too, so.... Gears ! ... for the purpose of posting.
Yes, yes.... another colorful abstract journal practice page. I didn't think it was stellar, but it had some good parts AND it was fun to make. Of course the gear design is from yet another new stencil.
Like I said, I had a hard time getting a good photo. The pages of the journal, although a little thick, still warp when I get them wet with paint and glue and that is normal, so it's hard to make them look fairly straight or lay flat enough to take a fairly decent photo.
The interesting thing about taking some more photos this morning in the natural light, was that I ended up taking them upside down so that I could take advantage from the light of the window while having the page open as flat as possible on the art table. I thought it was interesting how it changes things, just by viewing it in a different orientation.
Now for the fun of it, a black and white. Almost looks like an xray of the piece to me.
And the last one not as close up. This one wasn't from this morning though, so as soon as I started typing this sentence, I thought "hmmmm...wonder if I went back and took this again now, if I could get a better one???"
NO !! I yelled inside my head ! 😂 I won't go do it, I won't ! ....and I didn't.
After all, the morning minutes are slipping away fast. I still need a shower and to get dressed and to so something to my hair.... and to leave a little early to go by and buy biscuits for Mom and I. We have to be at my brother's house around 2'ish for desserts and an afternoon visit with all the Moms in our family that manage to make it there.
