Here are some pictures of dandelion, which is also known under the scientific name Taraxacum and is in the wild form to almost everywhere in the temperate climate zones of the northern hemisphere. Dandelion was already known in ancient cultures and was considered an important medicinal plant and also from an ecological point of view it is extremely important and a good supplier of pollen and nectar for various species of insects and because of the relatively early flowering period it is indispensable and there are some species that have particularly specialized in it and among them are some species of wild bees. The flowers are also interesting for bumblebees, butterflies or hoverflies and because of the yellow color it attracts insects particularly well and on the leaves or stems you can find some types of caterpillars or beetles, as can also be seen in one of my pictures. The values of pollen or nectar are extremely high and it can also be useful for one or the other bird species of and usually it is found on meadows and is considered a compact plant which mostly not get higher than 30 cm and it has developed a sophisticated mechanism to protect itself from too much heat and depending on the position of the sun, the flowers are protected leaves. The plant is considered extremely easy to care for and there are pretty much no special things to consider and it is even seen by some people as a pest plant and who should specifically cultivate it must be aware that the medium always remains moist and does not dry out and is also a suitable plant for beekeepers. Dandelion is able to spread itself and as you can see in the pictures, the seeds spreads very well over the wind and can thus reach long distances and they have also a suitable structure and can integrate well into the earth and also adapt perfectly to the wind conditions.

Sort:

I love yellow flowers like this, especially sunflowers.

I like flowers in all colors, but yellow has a special power of attraction!

Yeah.

Hi @elevator09,Your post is interesting, I didn't know that it was considered a pest plant, the dandelion is sold here in ointments, a lady even spends every Thursday selling this and other plants, she sells a lot, this ointment is used for many types of pains.
I wish you a happy day

Hey, some are of the opinion that it could spread too much and here opinions are always divided, in itself it can also be said that there are no pest plants. Happy to learn something about your culture, amazing that there are people who spread this old knowledge of medicinal plants. I wish you the same and look forward to hearing from you again soon :)
