The Psychological Effects of Art

in #blog20 days ago

Hey dear community, I hope you are all well and you had a day that brought some interesting experiences into your lives! In this post, I would like to talk about an interesting topic and hope you are able to expand something,

Here you can see works of art by various artists such as Lovis Corinth (1858 - 1925), Gabriele Münter (1877 - 1962), Mathilde Tardif (1872 - 1929) and more and I would like to use them to go into the psychological aspects of art. If we like a artwork, numerous things take place in our brain at the same time and can strongly influence our psyche and in addition to the visual perception, works of art create an interesting experience on an emotional level and the brain activity is influenced in many ways and depending on how you perceive a work, it can create pretty much all kinds of feelings which can vary depending on the person. Often, works of art address specific topics of the environment and can stimulate reflection with the own self about serious topics and the artist can use these as a tool to encourage other people to think about something which one would otherwise not think about and when certain problems are expressed in an artistic way, it is easier to process or understand things as a viewer. If you look at art as a pure tool to influence the emotions, it can be helpful to pay close attention to your own behavior when looking at certain works and you will notice that if you look at the same works several times, you can even train your own feelings and this can be used specifically in order to deal better with negative or positive feelings and to bring them better into a balance. One can use art very specifically to strengthen certain feelings and this is good to deal in deep reflection with one's own self and certain feelings and their consequential effect and it can intensify both feelings such as joy or sadness.

It is not without reason that art is also used specifically in medicine and here it is also important to understand that art alone is only an empty space which is filled with different colors, shapes, effects or other stylistic devices, all of which also play a huge role when it comes to the stimulation of the psyche. In addition to viewing, the creation of art also has an interesting effect on the psyche and there are numerous examples of people who use art as a tool to express their feelings and often this is imperceptible to the viewer, but becomes more interesting if you pay specific attention to these aspects even if it is not always possible to know the exact intention of the artist, gives the art an additional importance in which the interior of the artist is in focus. For some, art is a method of letting their innermost feelings run wild, which they cannot otherwise express, and often real visions can arise on a psychological level, which are expressed and often in a subliminal way. If you are even more interested in the topic and would like to know what complex processes take place in the mind when you look at art, I would like to recommend this article here in which I specifically addressed the effect of art on the subconscious.
