We are back again with round #3 of our weekly crypto news round-up! This week, we have Kucoin Hack and BitMEX vs the United States! So, read on!


Kucoin Loses More Than $150 Million To Hackers

One or more hackers have obtained the private keys to Kucoin’s hot wallets, resulting in losses of over $150 million.

The crypto exchange first detected large withdrawals of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) tokens to an anonymous wallet on Friday.

Kucoin has since published a list of suspicious wallet addresses that have been associated with the attack.

Ocean Forks After Kucoin Hack

Following the attack on Kucoin, Ocean Protocol (OCEAN) has initiated a hard fork on the project.

Ocean conducted a contract address migration to stop the hacker from unloading 21 million OCEAN tokens.

According to The Block research head, Larry Cermak, the perpetrator had sold approximately $120000 dollars worth of the project’s tokens before the hard fork.

American Authorities Charge BitMEX

The United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CTFC) has filed charges against BitMEX for money laundering, amongst other charges.

CTFC is claiming that BitMEX, which is registered in Seychelles, was illegally operating in the United States.

Owners Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, and Samuel Reed are also facing related criminal charges for violating the Bank Secrecy Act which they strongly disagree with and intend to defend.
