I've been through the wars with my mercury issues from dental amalgams and I have made a few mistakes along the way, but thankfully not as many as other people I know from the online Cutler Chelation mercury detox community on Facebook and Yahoo Groups.

In order to try help others who might be in the position of having mercury fillings in their mouths and are, due to declining health, thinking about getting this poison taken out, I will share as much helpful information as I can.

The method I used to detox is called Cutler Chelation, it was a method of Detoxing mercury created by Dr Andrew Cutler, who has sadly recently deceased.

He wrote a book called Amalgam Illness (link below), and could be found daily in the Facebook group and the Yahoo group helping people out with their questions, the Facebook group currently has over 28 thousand members, I believe this is due to Cutler Chelation being the safest method of removing mercury from the body.

Firstly, what is chelation?

Chelation (pronounced key-LAY-shun) therapy is treatment used in conventional medicine for removing heavy metals (including mercury) from the blood.

There is plenty of bad advice online and in the medical community surrounding the topic of detoxing mercury. I know people in the community who after following advice from doctors and even holistic dentists have gotten much worse.

Below are some things which should be avoided.

NO CHELATION WITH AMALGAMS IN YOUR MOUTH

Firstly it is very important that all amalgam is removed before undergoing any kind of mercury detox, this is because trying to pull mercury from the body with mercury still in your mouth can end up drawing more mercury out of your fillings and distributing it around the body into sensitive areas such as the brain, not good, Don't do it!

It is a good idea to get a bite-wing xray from your dentist when you have had all the amalgam taken out in order to check for any small specks of amalgam, I didn't do this and wasted a couple of years as I wasn't getting better due to having a speck left underneath a composite (See the image, top row of teeth, second from the left). YES, such a small amount CAN cause issues, even I was shocked at the effect it had.

NO CILANTO OR CHLORELLA

Under the Cutler protocol we use ALA (alpha lipoic acid), DMSA & DMPS. It is not recommended to use Cilantro or Chlorella due to the fact that it can cause a lot of mercury to be redistributed around the body rather than escorting it out of the body. The idea with Cutler chelation is to keep the blood levels of the chelator as level as possible, and we do this by respecting the chelators half-life, the half-life of Cilantro is unknown, and also the potency of herbs can vary significantly.

I personally believe that cilantro is a way nature has created for us to detox mercury, but not the amounts found in people with amalgams, this is a whole other ball game, and extra care should be taken.

NO CHALLENGE TESTS

A challenge test is something that your every day doctor might recommend in order to detect whether you have mercury in your body, what this involves is taking a high dose of a chelator such as DMSA and then measuring the urine. The reason this is not a good idea is that taking a high dose of a chelator in one go such as 500mg is going to release a lot of mercury and again, this redistribution issue which we should avoid at all cost.

To put things into perspective, a standard starting dose of DMSA per the Cutler protocol is 12mg every 3-4 hours, some people who are highly toxic need to go lower, I personally have had to reduce my dose down to 2.5mg when my body was dumping a lot of stored mercury.

NO IV CHELATION

Intravenous chelation is a big NoNo in the Cutler community, due to the amount of people who have regressed badly from doing it, avoid! We take our chelators orally.

@designedbyjoe Brother, wishing you all the best during this time. Please refer to Dr. Robert Morse on youtube, or call his clinic for immediate/emergency advice. He is a regenerative detox specialist and I have heard him discuss Mercury filling/toxicity before.
Here is a quick video I found that has a reference -

All the best my friend :)

Hey yes i am around! I have actually done 3 rounds of the Cutler protocol & I'm on the low sulfur diet. It's really good but I am still pretty sick. It must of been here i learnt about the Cutler protocol. Such a life saver. So funny I'm in the middle of writing a post similar to this about what not to do. How is your chelation going?
