RE: eSteem - Calling For Volunteer Translators, #14, Get Reward

I would really appreciate if you could also add support for defining a language of a post.

It's of course nice to have interface with my preferred language, but much more important is to be able to write and find posts with that language. Currently it's really hard to create community around a certain language because there is no way to easily find posts written in that.

On the other hand, translating the UI is not that important because anybody can easily learn a few words in English that are needed to use the app.

It would be a huge boost for international audience to have UI in their preferred language and to be able to see only posts in that language. That would automatically create communities around certain languages. Now that requires a lot of work to create and maintain a community because using tags to indicate language sucks as a solution.

I've tried to convince Steemit to implement this, but since they are doing nothing, it would be great if some other UI could do it. Here is more information: https://github.com/steemit/condenser/issues/300

I think automatic language detection can be implemented and suggested for user before publishing and we can add extra json field for that purpose. Any UI wishes to provide filters would have possibility to do so. I will consider this addition with new release 👍

Thank you so much!

I think automatic detection isn't necessary in the beginning, although a nice extra feature someday. Simplest way to suggest a language tag would be to do it based on the language of the UI. If a user is using Finnish translation of the UI, they are probably also writing their posts in Finnish.
