Hi food lovers! Greetings from Portugal :)
Recently Gordon Ramsey has shared a portuguese pork sandwich - here... It looks and must taste great, but that's not the typical portuguese pork sandwich (bifana). Our bifana is much simpler, just pork meat marinated with salt, garlic and white wine that is fried, or eventually grilled, and that is place into the bread (that may be, or not toasted).
Today I want to share another traditional portuguese sandwich:
Sandes de leitão (suckling pig sandwich)
If you are traveling by car in the center region of Portugal, then you must stop at Mealhada to try the sandwich. Crispy pork + toasted bread = amazing flavors!
As a plus (and extra calories) you can order potato fried chips (even better when they are homemade...like those I had)
The sandwich may look small, but it is great in tradition and taste!!

Surprise of the day: Bussaco drinks
Bussaco is a Portuguese brand of soda with orange or pineapple flavor (I had the orange). The brand's name is inspired by the name of the mountain where the water spring captation is located. Cool, right!? Bussaco is quite near to Mealhada and also deserves a visit :)
Although, my biggest surprise is that one soda's bottle just has about 15-20 Kcal :) Perfect for the suckling pig snack :D
There are several restaurants near the main road IC2 where you can pick a suckling pig sandwich. Mine was from Churrasqueira Rocha. I must recommend their service and quality.
