the weather is great, but it's all drying out.
I need rain.

Expecting a dry summer; they keep forecasting rain in 7 days.
...and every day they correct it further back.
This is the same pattern I observed the years before, when it wouldn't rain for months.
Essentially, they predicted the weather wrong for 3- 4 months. Ridiculous.

On a positive note, the potatos are doing great. They will probably end up small, but the small ones are usually very flavorful.

My friend's children planted them (under my supervision) and somehow managed to miss every row 😂

Anyways, I think this will be a good experience for the kids - from planting to harvest and eating them end of June.

One good day of rain would have a huge impact, though.
Maybe I should hire a shaman.
Or organize a 'rave for rain'.
At this point, it seems more promising than asking a metereologist for an accurate forecast...

Watering the plants is becoming more and more important, if the summer is dry. We also often water our tomatoes in the rocky semi-desert on South Tenerife. Good to read that the potatoes in your garden are doing great. I wish all the best, both to you and to everyone else too.

I can't irrigate. My garden is in the middle of nowhere, on a hill.

Our garden is similar. Between two cities in the rocky semi-desert. There is no tap water. We carry water from the cities mostly in eight liter bottles.

Ich pflanz nen Kürbis auf den Kompost, aber wenn es nicht regnet, wird das halt nix.
Ich mach aber Fotos, für alle Fälle.

Was zählt? Größe, Gewicht, Aussehen? Bei uns wachsen die Dinger auf dem Kompost ganz gut!

Da hab ich ja mit Hokkaido automatisch verloren.
Wenn ich will, kann ich hier 500m² nur für Kürbis freistellen...
...damit kann ich wenigstens Kategorie 2 gewinnen.

Ich würde 'weichere' Sachen bewerten: Methodik, Fotos... sowas

Meine Frau wollte dieses Jahr keine Kartoffeln setzen! Eigentlich sind die Dinger noch am einfachsten zu pflanzen, pflegen und zu ernten. Mal sehen, was es sonst so gibt dieses Jahr? Möhrchen, Salat, Kohlrabi, Tomaten, .......
