Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.
In this post, I will discuss the latest update of Splinterlands as well as advice I can give to new players regarding the new update.
Latest Updates from SPLINTERLANDS
On May 13th, Splinterlands made an update to the Glint Shop. The update is that they "reappeared" Loot Chests that had disappeared for more than 1 month. One month ago (around late March - early April), Splinterlands changed the format of the rewards that players received after winning a battle.
Since I first played this game (August 2021) until the end of March, players can immediately get a Loot Chest by collecting points in each of their victories and this Loot Chest has a different value at each level (BRONZE - SILVER - GOLD - DIAMOND - CHAMPION). But at the end of March, SPLINTERLANDS made updates to the rewards that players will receive for each of their victories.
Players will receive a certain amount of GLINT tokens every time they win a battle. The amount of GLINT tokens received depends on the rating (or rank) of the players, the amount of SPS staked, and other determinants. GLINT tokens can only be exchanged for items in the GLINT SHOP. Items available in the GLINT SHOP are initially Random Draws, Merits, Potions, Energy, and limited In-game Titles. In each Random Draw, there will be a random Reward Card (Soulbound) where if you buy a Random Draw that spends GLINT tokens in large quantities, then the chance to get the highest Rarity or get a large number of cards will be higher.
But a few weeks later, Splinterlands added Rarity Draws where the Reward cards you get have the same Rarity as those you buy (you get Rare Reward Cards when you buy Rare Draws). Because you can get Reward cards according to the rarity you want, the price of Rarity Draws is also more expensive than Random Draws.
AND.....
On May 13, Splinterlands reinstated the Loot Chest (to replace Random Draws) as per players' requests. In this new version of the Loot Chest, the rewards are more diverse and may restore interest in the game for existing players as well as attract new or prospective players.

For each Loot Chest, we have the opportunity to get one of the above prizes (Reward Cards, Potions, Merits, Energy, and JACKPOT PRIZE). And each prize also has its percentage of the amount we will get later.
Reward Cards
For chests that contain reward cards, the chances of receiving a card of each rarity and foil are listed below. Using a Legendary potion will double the chances of receiving both an Epic and Legendary card and an Alchemy potion will double the chances of receiving a Gold Foil card.

Potions
For chests that contain potions, there's a 50/50 chance they'll be Legendary or Alchemy, with the number of Potions in each type of chest shown below:

The Jackpot Prize is the reward that caught my attention (and that probably some other players). If we are lucky, we can get a reward with a value as low as $11 (Beta Token). BETA Tokens and PLOT Tokens can be exchanged for money or used in in-game activities.
Advice for Beginners about the Latest Update
For new players, maybe some of you are still confused about what to spend your GLINT Tokens on since there have been several updates in the last month. But at least in my opinion, you should focus more on learning how to fight and win each battle rather than thinking about the rewards you will choose in the GLINT Shop.
You also don't have to worry too much about how much SPS to stake because the higher your rating, the more SPS you will need to stake.
My advice is that you can use platforms in the HIVE Ecosystem (such as PEAKD) as additional income for your needs in playing SPLINTERLANDS. You can participate in the challenge held by SPLINTERLANDS every week. You can also join other communities participate in the challenges they hold, and be active in the community to "increase the value" of your account.
