This is my post for #memoirmonday week 11 hosted by @ericvancewalton
What are some of your all-time favorite restaurants?

I will be 68 this year and I am sitting here thinking about how many times I have eaten out. I do not remember ever doing it as a child, maybe we did but I have no memory of it.

Other than a fast food place the first time I was inside a restaurant other than working for one was when I was 26 years old. When we were first dating my now husband took me to a Red Lobster restaurant.

I am a Florida girl and love lobster, they had what they called Maine lobster, I did not think about the spelling of Maine, I thought it was the main kind of lobster, we have the main kind and a shovel nose kind, I wanted the main kind with the tentacles. They brought this thing that looked like a cross between a crab and a lobster. I said to my then-boyfriend "What is this" he says a Maine lobster, I told him it did not look like any lobster I had ever seen, it is not the main lobster that we have here in Florida. He says no these came from the state of Maine. I said, I did not want it make them take it back, he told me that is all they sold. I ate everything except those huge claws, I took them home and put them on an anthill and let the ants clean them out. I then hung them on a net over my fish tank. From then on, his idea of going out to eat was cooking on the grill in the backyard.

I only have one favorite restaurant and it is called Country Kitchen, it is a small Mom and Pop place that my girls take me to each Mother's Day. I have never been there when there was not over an hour's wait to get in. I would not say the food was anything different that I would cook at home but it is always good. The tables are too close together but you can feel the love in the air from the others eating there.

Country Kitchen is also a place where kids can be kids and no one gives you a second look. They might laugh with you but never at you.

When I go on trips with my sisters we sometimes eat out.

I do not know the names of the places we would eat.

most of the time one of us would cook and we had dinner together
I wish I had more restaurants to write about but this is all I have.

I am sitting in a local sandwich shop right now while I wait for the local mechanics to change my oil. Sandwiches and oil changes are both getting absurdly expensive, but I have my own aches and pains hindering my DIY ambitions, too.

You should see the price to change the oil in a diesel, they want an arm and both legs, if my memory is correct it was 190.00 or close to that, my husband has been doing it since then.

Prices for food are crazy, my daughter's dog was sick and not eating so on her way home from the Vet she stopped at McDonalds to get a plain small hamburger to see if the dog would eat it. She said the last time she bought one it was 59 cents, now over 2 dollars. I do not know how long ago she bought the 59 cent one.
