| В апреле 2015 мы с подругой побывали в Берлине. Жили мы недалеко от дворца Шарлоттенбург и , конечно, посвятили несколько часов дворцу и прогулке в парке вокруг. Фотографиями с той прогулки я и хочу сегодня поделиться. | In April 2015, my friend and I visited Berlin. We lived not far from Charlottenburg Palace and, of course, devoted several hours to the palace and a walk in the park around it. I want to share photos from that walk today. |
| Около пруда мы немножко понаблюдали за жизнью берлинских уток. Часть из них собралась на берегу. Весна, время создавать пару. Но, к сожалению кавалеров много, а дама одна. | Near the pond we observed a little the life of berlin ducks. Some of them gathered on the shore. Spring, time to create a couple. But, unfortunately, there are many gentlemen, but only one lady. |
| Между кавалерами грозная разборка с громким кряканьем. Барышня делает вид, что ни при чем. | There is a menacing showdown between the gentlemen with loud quacking. The young lady pretends that she had nothing to do with it. |

| Один из проигравших селезней уходит восвояси с видом: «Не очень-то и хотелось. Я так, просто мимо проходил…» | One of the losing drakes goes home with the look: “I didn’t really want to. I was just passing by..." |

| Эти утки относятся к самому распространённому виду диких уток – кряквы (лат. Anas platyrhynchos). У них ярко выраженный половой диморфизм. Селезни имеют контрастную окраску с тёмно-изумрудной головой. Уточки равномерно-рябенькие. Лишь на крыле у тех и других есть сине-фиолетовые зеркальные перья. Даже лапки у самцов более яркие. | These ducks belong to the most common species of wild ducks - mallards (lat. Anas platyrhynchos). They have pronounced sexual dimorphism. Drakes have a contrasting color with a dark emerald head. The ducks are uniformly speckled. Only on the wing do they both have blue-violet mirror feathers. Even the paws of males are brighter. |
| Я прочла, что такая ситуация, когда самцов в стае больше, чем самок, обычна для крякв. Несмотря на защитную окраску самок, они чаще, чем самцы, погибают во время насиживания и выведения потомства. Селезням приходится состязаться за внимание самок. | I read that this situation, when there are more males in a flock than females, is common for mallards. Despite the protective coloration of females, they die more often than males during incubation and breeding. Drakes have to compete for the attention of females. |
| Обычно кряквы перелётные птицы. Но по мере того, как утки обживаются в городах, где круглый год есть вода и еда, всё чаще кряквы зимуют там же, где выводят потомство. | Mallards are usually migratory birds. But as ducks settle in cities, where there is water and food all year round, mallards are increasingly wintering in the same place where they breed. |

Curled feathers in the tail really make this already pretty duck a cutie. Nice captures on both the male and female, she looks a little lonely with no one to gossip with.
