🦉 The redwing (Turdus iliacus)

  • Turdus (Latin) thrush
  • iliacus ilia (lat.) sides, iliacus with sides (i.e. with red sides)

This species of thrush arrives at the same time as its relatives, the fieldfare. And this despite the fact that they are migratory. Now in the forests you can see these thrushes together side by side. Sometimes it happens that they all nest in the same territory and bravely attack intruders.

But unlike the same fieldfare, this thrush is more cowardly and taking a photo of it is not so easy. He also has a full song in his repertoire. True, it sounds very strange, it’s some kind of incoherent chaotic set of sounds. And by the way, those redwings that live in my region have a completely different set of sounds than residents of other regions.
