Trying out local brands

If you’re a night owl like myself or perhaps runs on a very little sleep, eye serum might be a great additional skin care routine to add. But even if you’re not, there are some reasons why eye serum is also a great addition to your skin care routine such as anti-aging prevention where it also shows around the eyes. In the past, I was using an eye serum from a local brand called Viva. There weren’t a lot in the market and mostly the expensive ones but recently with skincare business thriving and booming, a lot of brands started launching their eye serum just like “ The originote”, a local brand that has the look of the global brand “ The Ordinary”. Today I’ll be talking about two local Indonesian brands that have the premium look while also focusing on affordability.

The originote

The originote started out back in 2022 as a skincare brand focusing on affordability as well as reaching the teenage to adult demographic. They have a lot of skin care products with the minimalist look, exactly similar to the Ordinary. But their Eye serum truly caught my attention with its ingredients and the benefits it tries to offer. Cited from their website, basically it promises to lighten dark circles, and reduce puffiness as well as moisturizing eyes. For my personal use, it works pretty well with reducing puffiness and . I don’t expect this product to completely lighten the dark circles but it is always nice to go out with my eyes feeling so cool and refreshed. Compared to viva that I tried before, this product gives me more result. That being said, the price difference are also a little high which could be the reason why The originote works better than Viva. It’s also pretty slim and portable, so I bring them even when I am going out. It’s just that if I were to travel far and for a long time, I need to stock up more than one tube.

Azarine

Another one of the local skin care brands that I am trying is Azarine. I tried their sunscreen and it was really light and I love it. At first, I was skeptical of this brand but after doing some research, they have been around in the industry and only recently they received spotlight. The brand ambassador is Lee Min Ho and that’s not a cheap marketing budget. They also continuously pour down on A-list groups like Red velvet. I suppose this helps with the brand awareness and how people feel a lot more “trust” in their product. Quality wise, I mean it is not bad and I personally love their sunscreen. It’s only this month I tried their serum because I finished my somethic and wanted to venture to more affordable options.

My verdict...

I have not finished the 30-days of the serum but I like how light it feels more than somethinc. It is also quite affordable more than somethinc. I tried their pore tighterning and Oil contorl serum. They use centella asiatica extract in their serum and use more natural resources compared to somethinc that even I have to google for each of its ingredients. So, maybe it’ll take a lot more for it to take into effect but I definitely would opt for more natural ingredients than chemical ones.
Both brands I tried have their own focuses too. For example, The originote focuses on skin and facial care without launching their makeup line but Azarine has their makeup line too. Azarine also uses more natural resources and properly writes the ingredients on their website but it was not the case with The originote. So, somehow that speaks volume to me and down the line, had it not been because of their eye serum, I would avoid the originote.

I typically don’t switch brands too often but so far, I have no issues using these brands and most likely will try more of their products and their face and skin care products.

I don't use eye creams and maybe I should do soon. I just looked at the mirror and I do have dark circles haha but not too noticeable.

It's nice that local companies are doing skin care and even makeup so we don't have to rely on western products for it and hope that they work for us Asians. Here in the PH as well, local makeup brands are popping everywhere and they are getting inspiration from western brands but they make it so they suit our complexion and skin types. Literally what we should have been doing!! I found the makeup mostly from the west are very saturated for our skintones and some skincare won't work due to our humidity, climate, etc.. :D

they make it so they suit our complexion and skin types.

This! I tried brands like kiehls, Cetaphil and Olay but they don't seem to improve my problem not to mention, they're not too affordable either 😂 also, don't get me started with the make up line because they have problem like you said + sometimes their color tone is pretty limited. So, these days I find comfort in local brands or sometimes korean skin care, cause they really make your skin glow.

Exactly!! The cost was just too much for them especially with shipping and import fees. T_T Years ago I ordered a The Ordinary foundation and when I tried it here OMG little sweat and IT MELTS!!! Hahaha. Of course it will be a good product in places like Canada but not here. I also recently bought some Korean and Chinese makeup and they really suit Asian features. Their eyeshadow and contour shades are just better suited for Asians than the western products since they are not that saturated. Their lip tints are so good too. Just not the foundation though cos they seem to be too light lol.

Hello, yes we believe that some products are good according to the type of skin, but also according to the type of climate of the place where they are used.

Same, I'm using eye serums. I just can't consistently use them. It's quite busy, and I just wanna sleep than do the routine at night. But yeah, I'm also a fan of skincare.

By the way, thanks for sharing this. I didn't know this Community exists until I read your blog.

I just wanna sleep than do the routine at night. But yeah, I'm also a fan of skincare.

😂sometimes it's like that but because I pair it brushing teeth, I barely missed them these days. You should share what you know in this community. While I am not posting here too often, I love reading what others have experience and their skin care routine. Looking forward to yours!

Yes! I'm planning to share some when I buy another set of skincare.

Skin care is essential. Thank you for sharing you expertise.

Yep! it's of necessity these days

Thanks for sharing this information.

You're welcome😊

I wonder how I can gain your appreciation. 😊 I wanted your support on my post too. 😊 Have a great day.

Your exploration of serums is enlightening! A deep dive into skincare essentials. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Thank you! I just happened to try a few things 😄and love sharing them.

Bold of you to switch brands. But it turned out rather great.

Seeing "eye serum," I first thought it was something for the eyes. Felt uncanny. lol.
Lee Min Ho? And still quite affordable? That's really impressive. You're shining without breaking the bank.

Which one of them would you not mind if I stole?

Both I guess, I mean, there are so many skin care to choose from and even for me, it's hard to pick and choose. There are a lot more experts and experimental people out there but I am just diving in recently cause I am getting older and stuff.

I happen to be using two serums for my face that are not for my eyes.

The skin around the eyes and dark circles is the softest and thinnest of all the face, that's why it's important to use good products and keep in mind that it's the area most prone to the changes of time and where you can notice the years. 😆

Yes those serums look nice as you say, it has a premium look, I'm glad you are happy with those two, when you show us that beautiful complexion. @macchiata 😉

ooh, maybe it's time for you to use eye serum. I find them really soothing and nice for the skin. I'll probably be showing them when I try new style of make up,I am currently learning on that and one of these days, would love to share the way I do my minimalist make up look.

I'm using the Inkeylist products, I have an eye serum too but sometimes I am too lazy to do my night routine. I haven't shared my skin care products here in this community.

😀 night routine is always the laziest time but these days, I pair them with brushing teeth so, it's something I really can't miss.

Hi, thank you for sharing your content contained in Skin and Body Care. In my case I have an eye contour, all my friends love it, but I have not seen effects on me hahaha, plus I was afraid to use it and now I don't want to use it anymore, so my dark circles are there.

I don't think they really reduce dark circles, I use them to moisturize my eyes and giving it cooling effects. TBH, the best remedy for dark circle has always been sleep to me :D
