Yesterday morning first thing I was headed to the store to pickup my #honeybees. I only got the one package which is about 4 pounds of bees. I drove them home and set them in the shed until the boys were up.
I got suited up and then poured the bees out into the hive.
And then I fucked up. I was prying the cork "loose" (key word) on the bottom of the queen container when the cork flew out into the hive and when I tried to quickly put it back the queen flew out and I don't have any clue where she went. I REALLY REALLY hope she circled back around and landed in the mass of the hive...
The bees WILL try to make a new queen if they lost this one and they have well more than enough stores in the frames in the hive that they don't have to work too hard. I'm really hoping they have a queen...
J's front tire on his bike got a nasty hole in it so it was time to teach him how to change the tubes. I got a new set which delivered on Friday and are puncture resistant. We got both tubes changed out and then I oiled his chain and bearings which made his bike super smooth now. He was quite happy with how much better it rides.
The next task was to put the fence up in the pole garden for the peas. I went with fence instead of the wires since the fence has closer spacing to better allow the peas to climb.
Then I put up the top 4 wires for the sunflowers. I don;t need the bottom couple feet wired, just the upper to help hold the sunflowers up when they get really tall.
I next made myself a lock for the mower. It can be a bit annoying having to hold the engage bar down all the time while mowing so I made a quick latch out of wire that easily slides around to lock the bar down.
I then mowed a large area below the house and around the potato garden. I still have the area around the boys play area and the spa to cut if it doesn't rain too much today.
After 1pm I gathered stuff into the truck and headed up to the bouldering area.
I used the weedeater to cut trails from the parking to the landing between the boulders.
Then hacked back all the growth along the base of the walls.
I ran out of string and didn't bring more with but had cut enough so we got to scrubbing the rocks. The moss growth had to get removed and as much dirt as possible.
The boys worked on various spots removing the moss and debris.
After cleaning the boulder I climbed it a couple times, I did Higher Hope which is the middle route up the left leaning boulder.
The boys helped a lot and we got a bunch of climbs cleaned up.
I took my shears around the base of the walls and cut everything back close to the ground. I even saw the cuts I had made to bushes years back and they had grown out from below.
I was quite pleased to climb the traverse out and back which totaled 100 feet. I was really happy to remember the holds as I climbed too. After about an hour we packed up and headed for home.
I stopped at the dart board for a bit and my 4th throw I pulled this 127 and wired just outside the 3x 19.
Then a few minutes later I stacked all 3 darts just below the 3x 19. Seriously one hell of a grouping.
Around 4 I got the fire going in the pit for the evening.
I grilled our beefallo burgers while @stryeyz and R played washers.
And J split firewood.
I toasted the buns which went really fast.
UFC 301 was on with some okay match ups. It was in Brazil so the Brazilians had quite the home town vibe behind them and most won their matches.
Got out to soak earlier and managed about an hour thanks to my skin still being screwy.
It is going to rain today but it looks to mostly miss us to the south, just the edge is about to hit us now. If it doesn't rain too much I will do some more grass cutting, dig more dandelions, and maybe hit the bouldering area... all weather dependent of course. I'll check on the bees and get syrup made and the feeder filled and placed in the hive for sure, and then I will make a fire in the pit and grill for dinner again.

We all know bees sting people but how come you’ve got them?
I’m always scared of them,lol
They pollinate the plants and increase the production of the farm, and we get honey from them.
Honeybees are generally pretty docile. If you don't bother them, they'll ignore you. They are a completely different species from the vindictive hornets and wasps.
