Hello, Homesteading Community members, and other curious clickers! I like to get straight to the point, so here it is:
The Homesteading Community on Hive has been taken under the generous wing of OCD's Community Incubation program. This means that along with the typical upvotes you would receive, there is a good chance that your post will get submitted for an OCD upvote, along with their curation trail. For a few of you (like myself) who post regularly to this community and already get recognition from OCD, this isn't going to mean much. For some of you, whose posts here are often sadly undervalued, this means that you could be looking at a significant increase in your post rewards, at least in this community.
If you followed along with all of that, and know exactly what is going on, you can skip the rest of this post. If you're confused, or just want to read more, I'll talk about what all this means in a little more depth.
For those who don't know about OCD on Hive, it is basically a group with control over quite a bit of Hive Power that seeks to support and promote quality content that isn't getting the recognition it deserves. It is NOT an auto-upvote service. Exceptional posts to the community will be selected by myself (@paradoxtma) or @minismallholding, and we submit these posts to OCD with recommendation for an upvote. OCD determines how big, if any, of a vote they will give.
Some of your posts have already been recommended, and so far, every one has been accepted. From what I have seen, if a recommendation is turned down, a reason is given.
This doesn't mean that we'll submit every post. As previously mentioned, some of you already receive OCD support from outside the community, or enough support from other groups that they will not consider your work to be 'overlooked'. Some of you occasionally post too frequently to have every post recommended... they prefer not to see the same authors recommended every day. Some posts will be overlooked simply because that happens sometimes, and I offer apologies now for when that inevitably happens.
It will mean a few minor changes (hopefully seen as improvements) to the Homesteading Community. Future announcement posts will most likely come from the Community account, rather than my personal account. There will be occasional 'Community Highlight' posts that will show off some of your great work, and these posts will receive OCD support. This will allow us to grow the community account a bit, to increase our own support for our creators. Those featured in these posts will also be listed as beneficiaries, so you'll earn a little extra if you're featured.
Over time, this may mean more membership and activity here in the community. This winter, when I have more time, I plan to put some effort into growing the community a bit more. I'm not sure what this will look like yet... maybe a contest or two, maybe promoting some posts that shill for the community... if you have any good ideas, or interest in helping with any of that, I'd be happy to hear about it.
