En mi querido estado Sucre existen lugares maravillosos é históricos y uno de ellos es la Catedral Metropolitana de Cumaná llamada así por el papa Juan Pablo II el 16 de mayo de 1992 elevándola a la categoría de Arquidiócesis Metropolitana de Cumaná, rodeada de lugares muy conocidos como lo es el **Liceo Antonio José de Sucre en honor a nuestro ilustre procer e hijo de Cumaná, la Plaza Andrés Eloy Blanco y muy cerca tenemos el colegio Corazón de Jesús esta bellísima Iglesia se ubica en la calle Ribas siendo construida en el siglo XVIII llevando el nombre de Seo Cordis Iesu lo que significa: Sede del Corazón de Jesús.

Para el año 1519 nace la creación de la Diócesis y no se concreta hasta 1922, pero en el año de 1929 Cumaná sufre un terrible terremoto destruyendo no en su totalidad la Iglesia, pero si sufrió daños severos y fué para 1936 su restauración para felicidad de sus feligreses y desde 1989 es llamada Catedral de Cumaná, siendo bendecida por S.E Mons Francisco J Iturriza Gillen el 3 de febrero de 1945, actualmente en dicha Catedral se encuentran los restos de algunos de los obispos que dedicaron su vida a la iglesia, como lo fueron: Sixto Sosa, primer Obispo de Cumaná; Alfredo Rodríguez, primer Arzobispo de Cumaná y Mons. Antonio Fernández.

Cumaná goza de grandes maravillas y muestra de eso es nuestra Catedral Metropolitana donde miles de feligreses acuden a demostrar su amor hacia Dios también sirve para la realización de bodas, bautizos y por que no decirlo buscar un desahogo a los problemas del día a día. Sus párrocos ofician misas a los difuntos y algunos agradecen los favores recibidos con ofrendas y ayuda a la iglesia.
Cumaná enjoys great wonders and an example of this is our Metropolitan Cathedral where thousands of parishioners come to show their love for God. It is also used for weddings, baptisms and why not say it to find an outlet for the problems of everyday life. Their parish priests officiate masses to the deceased and some thank the favors received with offerings and help to the church.
