Yong Tau Foo with soup at My Kampung

in Foodies Bee Hive • 15 days ago

During lunchtime, I decided to choose the Yong Tau Foo stall in My Kampung. I've been thinking of trying this food because it's healthy and the ingredients are fresh. The only reason that I haven't tried it yet is because I'm often lured by the mixed veggie stall or the stalls that offer fried unhealthy stuff. The other reason is the weather which makes me feel uncomfortable eating warm soup at a warm lunchtime.

Here's what I got for today's meal!

In case you're wondering, Yong Tau Foo is a Hakka Chinese-style dish where many of the ingredients are a variety of tofu. Aside from that, there are plenty of other vegetable selections that you may pick and combine with the rest of the stuff available.

The price depends on how many items you choose for your dish. The minimum would be 7 pieces which costs S$5.60. The pricing is quite good considering the freshness of the ingredients that are displayed for picking. I also like the fact that I have the freedom to choose the combination of the items that I'm putting in my dish.

The items that I chose were: green leafy vegetable (I don't know the name but I like eating it so much), wood ear mushroom, tofu stuffed with fish paste, fish cake, tomato, bitter gourd stuffed with fish paste, and a chicken hotdog!

After a 5-minute wait, my Yong Tau Foo is ready!

Based on the color of the vegetables, I can tell that the cook knows the right time to cook vegetables. I like that the color looks bright green which is a good indication that it was cooked perfectly!

It's fresh and delicious. Finishing every bit of it was easy and it also gives me a good feeling afterward. I will surely come back to this place and eat again!

My journey to the world of food.
