Reispässe in Österreich haben seit 1. Dezember 2023 ein neues Design erhalten. Auf der Rückseite befindet sich ein cooler Schriftzug "Ostarrichi", eine historische Bezeichnung für Österreich.
Denke, der Staat sollte seinen Bürgern wenigstens einen Personalausweis kostenlos zur Verfügung stellen, was meint ihr?

I have now issued a new passport, which currently costs 75.90 euros in Austria, what does issuing a passport cost where you live?
Passports in Austria have had a new design since December 1st, 2023. On the back there is a cool signature "Ostarrichi", a historical name for Austria.
I think the state should at least provide its citizens with an ID card free of charge, what do you think?

Issuing passport in Nigeria is really costly that it becomes difficult for some people to actually afford it

Where is it from? all EU passports are red, same size and format, but design can vary.
Canadian passports used to be for 5 years only, but now I see that has changed, now you have a choice for either 5 years CA$ 110.- (€ 74.-) or ten years for CA$ 160.- (€ 108.-) https://servicecanadapassport.ca/passport-application-fee-in-canada/
Most cities have a place where you can apply, but only major cities you can apply at and pick it up directly since they are issued right there, all others are mailed.
It wasn't always that way - smaller centers had to travel to the next large city and apply there in person.
I had always been Austrian, but my family is Canadian.
Interesting trivia: I used to renew my Austrian passport by mail at the embassy in Ottawa. But since the introduction of biometric data, I would have had to travel there in person, over 3.200 km! By sheer luck I happened to be in Austria in 2010, and while my passport was still good, I applied for a new one at the Bezirksamt in Floridsdorf, and it was ready within a week.
My current Austrian passport is for 10 years, issued in 2020, so it didn't have that fancy design yet. It does have the biometric data though.
Just for a lark, and memories, I still have my old passport issued in 1961. It was for 5 years, and extended another 5 years untill 1971. I got a ton of interesing stamps in it, visas, work permits in Sweden, Canadian immigration etc.
oh cool, also remember the old green Austrian passports, think passports are quite expensive also in Canada, considering you would have to renew it every 5/10 years, over a lifetime that becomes quite a big sum.

Du bist nicht alt genug um die uralten Pässe zu kennen. Die waren nicht grün. Ich hab noch meinen alten Pass als ich 17 Jahre alt war. Verlängert bis 27, voll mit Visas und Stempel, Einwanderung in Schweden und danach Kanada.

zum Schriftzug Ostarichi, den ich trotz blinzeln auf deinem Foto nicht ausmachen konnte, habe ich den Ausschnitt aus dem 996 Dokument gefunden - jetzt sieht man es klar:

Hab das alte Dokument aufgerufen und besichtigt. Ich kann zwar allerhand lesen, auch Korrent, aber das ist ja schon fast so schwer wie Hyroglyphen

In Deutschland kostet er 70€ bzw. 102€, wenn es schnell gehen soll. Wirklich schön finde ich den Deutschen aber leider nicht.^^
Eigentlich so wie bei uns vom Preis, Expresstarif gibt es glaube ich auch, aber es ist auch normal flott gegangen, finde das Design vom neuen Österreichischen Pass eigentlich ganz gut gelungen. Etwas unnötig ist, dass das Passfoto jetzt zwei mal abgedruckt wird, einmal in schwarz-weiß und darüber in Farbe 😄
Sollte kostenlos sein.Hätte lieber einen österreichischen als einen deutschen Pass.

Ours cost about 120 euro equivalent if you want it ASAP.
I haven't checked but I think it was over $100 in the US for the application fee. I think it would be nice to have a free passport for each citizen though.
In Belgium it's about €70 and €267 if you want it fast.
It's like criminal, how much they charge extra to receive it in a reasonable amount of time..

It's been a while since I renewed it but more or less the same.
In Venezuela it costs $200 to renew it and about $400 (dollars to take it out for the first time). But putting the price aside, what is really complex is the process you have to go through to obtain it.
You have to request an appointment through a website that is always busy and you will rarely have the chance to get a number that is assigned to you to go to the office on a specific day and at a specific time to complete the procedure.
And when you have that number you must pay the $200 in a bank and then send it with the buyer and then by SMS they send you a message telling you the day, time and office of your appointment.
The process is infinitely long and there are people who have taken up to 3 years to obtain a passport.
It's a nightmare.
Oh wow, thats expensive, insane.
yeah, is sick, thats why for us Venezuelans, is so hard to leave the country.(struggles from 3rd world), but thanks to hive, we have some chance and can breath a bit of fresh air!.
