Elon Musk confirms what many have thought for years - the free speech of Twitter users (and likely also users of other web 2 social networks) has long been heavily denied by deliberate actions taken by political groups behind the scenes.
He specifically named the Jewish Anti Defamation League as having been using it's reach and power with advertisers to maliciously shut down speakers they don't like, in what amounts to terrorist type activity to subvert human freedom of association, free speech and public discourse.
Advertisers avoid controversy, so all that is needed for ADL to crush our US & European ad revenue is to make unfounded accusations. They have much less power in Asia, so our ad revenue there is still strong.
Apparently the ADL have taken to attacking X directly and Musk has had enough of staying silent.
This “controversy” causes advertisers to “pause”, but that pause is permanent until ADL gives the green light, which they will not do without us agreeing to secretly suspend or shadowban any account they don’t like.
So he is literally saying that the ADL has enough sway with major advertisers that the advertisers will refuse to spend money on X until specific accounts are shut down.. I am going to speculate, based on experience, that the targeted accounts are not just 'literal nazis', but also includes a wide range of speakers who some people might not ever guess would be a target of a group such as the ADL.
That is the relationship they’ve had with X/Twitter for many years. Presumably, they have that with all western search or social media orgs.
He confirms it is probable that this problem extends to Facebook, Instagram and most other corporate Web 2 networks.
This is one of the biggest scandals I can recall in internet history. As someone who is heavily focused on free speech and on online community building, having been involved in it for over 16 years, I have long held theories about who pulls the strings online, how they do it and the implications.
Elon Musk just posted claims that should upset the entire industry and that may just explain some of why the tireless work of so many excellent researchers to expose major crimes have been so hampered online for years. In fact, I spent 7 years building a custom made social network and struggled way too hard to get users - similar to the problems that Hive has when trying to expand via Web 2 networks. I was specifically promoting solid evidence of crimes that I imagine the ADL's members wanted silenced.
The implications for the marketing industry are just as huge as the implications for free speech and free will. As head of a digital marketing business, I have been tasked with spending clients' money on advertising, including having paid money to Twitter in the past. The interesting flipside to this revelation is that now, many non ADL influenced advertisers will not want to advertise with X and web 2 sites because they perceive the game to be rigged in ways they never previously imagined.
Implications for the uncensored Hive Blockchain + Social Networking eco system.
The biggest corporations have long known that the Silicon Valley social networks were scamming them and they even set about creating a blockchain based advertising solution to try to circumvent the problem - but the size of networks such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook has been difficult to contend with.
Now there will be huge budgets looking for ways to advertise online which would previously have just been given straight to Facebook and X that now may well be redirected elsewhere online. The same goes for general users who value free speech and who are ever more open to alternative solutions for community building and social networking.

There is a problem with the ADL continuing to self identify as a "Jewish" organisation.
Many Jews (myself included) see nothing Jewish whatsoever in their actions or goals. For sure I believe the ADL and its actions are antithetical to Israel's continued safe existence which is (for me) the best guarantee against the return of a real and physical "death to the Jews" event.
It is hard, however, for Jews like me to get upset if non-Jews are led to believe the ADL somehow represents something Jewish when they shout about being Jewish so often.
Yes, there is clearly a major split among Jewish identifying people as to what that actually means - I am reminded of the orthodox people who regularly protest that Israel shouldn't exist as a nation because Jews are meant to still be in exile etc.
It's similar with Christianity, Islam and other groups too - but they don't have a centralised nation of their own for the conflicts to play out in with such focus.

Generally I'm very careful not to blame Jews for Jew hatred directed at them. But people like those currently leading the ADL certainly seem to shout about being Jewish so often, it's hard not to blame neutral 3rd parties who are sucked into thinking that their brand of progressive Marxism is Jewish instead of what I believe it to be, profoundly anti-Jewish.
Right ok, I see. All power structures get targeted for exploitation by parasites seeking to 'ride the horse' of the power of the people involved, so as to direct it for their own benefit. I can point to many such examples, though not everyone would agree with all of them due to their own biases. Pretty much every political party is an example of this in pretty much every country!
I don't really know how most Jewish people view the ADL, though all the Jewish people I personally know pretty much detest them. This makes me wonder who exactly is supporting them and what their intentions are. As an outsider it looks to me like the ADL's power comes mainly from intimidating people and not from support due to it's 'good works'.

This is basically what we have been suspecting for years and definitely extends to the other social networks. I have been in Facebook jail many times for voicing my opinion exposing crimes etc and even something as small as my thoughts on the effectiveness of masks during COVID!
This trend must extend over all media platforms though. Which songs to give airtime to, which movies are awarded Oscar's. I think the problem is much deeper.

Absolutely, my spidey senses were raised on FB when I was jailed for 3 MONTHS for posting an ANTI NAZI meme featuring Jewish victims in Nazi Germany (being stopped by SS). It made no sense to me because the point of the meme was basically in support of freedom (and Jewish victims). At the time I thought maybe it was just a weird glitch in the AI, but from this viewpoint I think that the ADL moderators either have low IQs or had just gotten their hands into the AI and the AI didn't understand their strange requests.

The ADL has completely lost touch with its Jewish roots and has become an arm of the work Democratic party.
I don't have much info on the ADL themselves, you probably know much more than me about them.. I would just point to the possible existence of groups such as the 'mega' group that came to light during the exploration of the Jeffrey Epstein network. There are certainly enough very wealthy people in those circles who seek influence and power, that the true causes of the behaviour of a group like the ADL will be challenging to trace accurately.
And now many "conspiracy theorists" became truth speakers.
