We owe these pollinators everything.

Hello, everyone.

I doubt if our world would be what it is today without bees; they play a vital role in our everyday lives, even if we do not notice how they work from the shadows to make sure we have food. Trust me, their sting can put your whole world on pause, but nothing a sip of honey can't fix. Some of us had very bad experiences with bees, and it made us fear them and avoid them, but it still did not stop them from playing their part in our lives. We would have a lot of problems with agriculture and food production if bees failed to carry out their duties. Some people do not value these little insects because they do not know what they mean to the entire human race.

Writing this post made me remember the countless bad experiences I have had with bees. It made me stop school for over 5 days because of how the stings made my swollen face look like an oiled chicken. Friends laughed at me until my face went back to normal. They can be dangerous and harmful, but in most cases, you just have to tamper with their territory before they show you the stuff they are made of. I also heard stories about how they go after the fragrance from perfumes, and if you apply any, you shouldn't go anywhere near their territory. It was hard to believe until I saw with my own eyes how they chased a man for no reason; later on, we discovered it was his perfume that attracted them.

Most times, I wonder if other insects really matter the way that bees do. Despite how dangerous they can be, they matter to our environment and to us humans. Bees have a lifestyle we humans can actually emulate and make life a lot easier for ourselves. They live in hives, and the members of the hive practice division of labor. The members of every hive are divided into three groups, which include the queen, workers, and drones. Each of these members has a task to carry out, and they do it diligently. As the name implies, the queen is in charge of the entire hive and oversees everything.

The workers are the ones who play the role of aiding agriculture by helping to promote pollination while they carry out their own duty. The workers are mainly female. They are in charge of providing food for the hive or colony; they build the hive. Both humans and bees act alike. The drones are the males; their duty is to mate with the queen and ensure procreation and the continuous existence of the colony or hive.

Few things we can learn from bees.

There are so many things we can learn from bees. Both humans and bees share a few characters already, but we humans are not as diligent as these insects.

  • Teamwork spirit: Bees come together and work hand in hand to ensure the continuous existence of their colony; nothing beats teamwork. With teamwork, the work or task is carried out faster and easier. With teamwork, we spend less time on a task.

  • Dedication and determination: Bees stay dedicated to their course and anything that ensures that their colony thrives; they are also determined to overcome every obstacle that will stand in their way when doing things that ensure the growth of their colony.
