Let me start by telling us about the case with Apple company and the strategy they adopted to become the biggest electronic brand in the world today. The Apple company dived into the world of technological innovation by creating its brand of computers called MacBooks, but the challenge with its product was that it was very expensive for many customers and consumers.

Apple Inc. saw that their products were bought by only the rich and that most average people would prefer to patronize other cheaper brands like Lenovo, Microsoft, and Dell. So Apple decided to launch smaller electronic devices like the iPod and later, the iPhone.

In 2007, Apple started upgrading their brand of phones and renaming them within an interval of a few months. They started with the iPhone 3gG, to the iPhone 4, 6, 7, and so on up until now where they are currently at iPhone 15. One of the funniest things about their strategy is that there are usually no major changes or differences from the upgrades, but the prices are very different, with people rushing the latest product.

For instance, the difference between the iPhone 13, 14, and 15 is majorly in their sizes, but the difference in prices after each supposed upgrade is really enormous and brilliant from the Apple team. Apple showed us a flexible strategy here because their ability to foresee consumer needs and adapt their product to meet the customer's requirements is what has kept them at the top for so long.

As far as I know, strategies are needed in literally every situation of life, especially in complex scenarios where the variables are constantly shifting, a flexible strategy becomes our secret weapon. Having the ability to adapt and adjust our approaches in every scenario could help us to come out stronger even in uncertain situations.

It was during my final year project work that I experienced and tried flexing my strategy. As a computer science student, I was expected to design and create a software that can be used to solve problems in society. So I decided to go for a difficult project which was about "using IoT to detect a patient health condition and administration of prescription over the internet within seconds".

The challenge I later faced while embarking on this project was that I didn't have enough financial capability to continue with this project which I had already started. I needed sensors that would be put on the patient's body to diagnose them, but I had no money to buy these sensors (which was around $150 then).

The lecturers insisted that I must continue with this topic and that it was too late to change it. So I strategized a means to continue with that topic without spending the $150 on sensors. During the discussion phase of my project, I emphasized more on IoT rather than sensors, so I was able to convince my lecturers that even without sensors, patients could provide enough details about the symptoms of their illness on the software, and still get a better prescription from the doctors over the internet.

I was able to stick to the same project topic, but there was a little change in the creation of the software for that topic. I was able to make adjustments and still achieve my goals, that's what a flexible strategy can do.

It all depends on my ability to adapt to new developments and still stay focused. A flexible strategy is not about abandoning your goals but about finding innovative and versatile ways to achieve them amidst uncertainty. It emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and the willingness to evolve strategies as new information and circumstances arise.

Conclusively, I would tell us that having a strategy in every situation is great but having a flexible strategy is better. A flexible strategy in the sense that you can adapt to new changes in every situation when the need arises. It's all about having the foresight to anticipate changes and the ability to modify your approach accordingly.

From the example I gave about the Apple company, you could see that a small adjustment in their innovation was what brought about their fame. So hence my topic, the more flexible the strategy, the better.
