Welcome dear

Amazing Nature Lover

Early one morning on one of my daily morning walks, this time to the back of the Schlosspark in the area called Schleusenland, my eyes fell on a plant that immediately captivated me. A thistle stood before me, proud and aloof, with a presence that was hard to ignore. Its leaves, as if from another world, spread out in an imposing rosette with jagged edges and sharp spines. It seemed ready to defend itself against any threat.

The leaves, covered in a silvery blueish green sheen, reflected the light of the morning sun and gave the plant an almost mystical aura. Despite its forbidding appearance, I could not escape its beauty. The symmetry of the leaves, the perfect interplay of light and shadow, created an image that simultaneously evoked fear and fascination.

The thistle, as I learned earlier already through a little research, belongs to the composite family, scientifically known as Asteraceae. Its ability to survive in the poorest of soils is very impressive. With its deep roots, it can adapt to the most inhospitable conditions and still shine in all its glory. This plant that seems so tough and inaccessible is actually a symbol of resilience and adaptability, great.

As I looked at the spiky rosette, I began to remember. The beauty in its seemingly dangerous exterior will reveal itself sooner or later I knew from other encounters with this species. Every tip, every edge tells a story of struggle for survival and self-assertion. The thistle shows us that true beauty is often hidden and that the sharpest spines are a form of protection to be respected.

I knew that the day would come when the thistle would unfurl its flowers. These flowers, as I have experienced a few times already, are breathtakingly beautiful - bright and colorful, in stark contrast to the those sharp leaves with their spikes which we can see here.

Looking at this growing plant, I could literally see the spiky rosette slowly opening in my mind's eye, revealing its hidden treasures. The purple and pink flowers that would one day burst forth from the spiky buds will also be a feast for the senses. It will be as if the plant is slowly opening up to the world, revealing its true nature - beautiful and full of life, grace and elegance. I am already looking forward to experiencing this again soon.

Their flowers will not only attract me, but also countless pollinators. Bees, butterflies and other insects will feast on its nectar and carry the pollen from flower to flower. This exchange, this symbiosis, would renew and revitalize life in the meadow. I hope I have been able to convey a little of my enthusiasm for thistles and hope to see you again when they bloom.
