Blessed beginning of the week for this beautiful and dear community of crafters, I hope everyone is well.
I always feel like sewing and taking advantage of the weekend at home I decided to practice again to make a male boxer, I was looking among the recycled fabrics for a suitable fabric to do it, so I found some parts of a semi-flexible fabric sports pants that my daughter used at school, but since I bought her a new one, we reserved that one to make her a short, to walk around the house, although the fabric is a little faded it is a resistant fabric.
Then my machine broke down and I didn't have time to make the shorts, time went by and I forgot the fabric, my daughter didn't remind me anymore about it because she didn't like the idea of the shorts.
So I decided to use the fabric to make a male boxer short with elastic, as part of my second attempt to see what improvements I could achieve, I don't have much experience with elastic, I'm not an expert in sewing either, but I really like sewing.

Siempre tengo ganas de coser y aprovechando el fin de semana en casa me propuse volver a practicar a hacer un bóxer masculino, estaba buscando entre las telas recicladas una tela adecuada para hacerlo, así que encontré algunas partes de un pantalón deportivo de tela semi flexible que mi hija usaba en el colegio, pero como le compré uno nuevo, reservamos ese para hacerle un short, para andar por casa, aunque la tela está un poco desteñida es una tela resistente.
Luego mi máquina se dañó y no tuve tiempo de hacer el short, pasó el tiempo olvide la tela, mi hija no me recordó más el tema porque no le gustaba la idea del short.
Así que decidí usar la tela para hacer un bóxer masculino corto con elástico, como parte de mi segundo intento para ver las mejoras que podía lograr, no tengo mucha experiencia colocando elásticos, tampoco soy una experta en costura, pero me gusta mucho la costura.

As soon as I put the materials on the table it seemed to me that everything would be quick and easy, because I had the patterns, so with the fabric, scissors, thread, pins and sewing machine, I started threading my machine to get it ready.
En cuanto puse los materiales sobre la mesa me pareció que todo sería rápido y fácil, porque tenía los patrones, así que con la tela, la tijera, el hilo, los alfileres y la máquina de coser, empecé a enhebrar mi máquina para tenerla lista.
I took the fabric, stretched it well on the table, placed the patterns on it, marked it with the dry soap, and took delight in cutting the different pieces, among them a back reinforcement piece that had this pattern on it.
Agarre la tela, la estire bien sobre la mesa, sobre esta coloque los patrones, marque con el jabón seco y me deleite cortando las diferentes piezas, entre ellas una pieza trasera de refuerzo que llevaba este patrón.
The first thing I sewed was the reinforcement piece for the back piece which I thought was excellent because they always break especially for children's boxer shorts, as my intentions to master the techniques to make boxer shorts, is to compare new fabrics and start with this type of clothing for adults and children.
Lo primero que cosí fue la pieza de refuerzo para la pieza trasera que me pareció excelente que la llevara porque siempre se rompen sobre todo para los bóxeres de los niños, como mis intenciones de dominar las técnicas para hacer bóxer, es comparar telas nuevas y emprender con este tipo de ropa para adultos y niños.
I sewed the reinforcement of the back piece, then I sewed some strips on the sides to complete the front piece, since the fabric was not enough.
Cosí el refuerzo de la pieza trasera, luego cosí por los costados unas tiras para completar la pieza delantera, ya que la tela no me alcanzo.
I continued sewing the sides both inside and out, double zigzag stitching all the way around, and then sewed the outline bag, double stitching inside and out for strength.

I zigzag stitched the front and back pieces together, front to front, sewed along the sides and at the crotch.

My biggest challenge was placing the elastic because when I started sewing it I didn't realize that I had placed the letters upside down, on the contrary, I realized when I had gone halfway through the seam, I had to unstitch again.
On my second attempt, I sewed and the elastic was not enough, I had a lot of fabric left unsewn to the elastic.
I started unstitching again, almost exhausted, and trying to stretch the elastic, 2 needles broke, how painful, I tried again, I sewed it completely, but one side was smoother and one side was more puckered, I unstitched again, I think the heat was bad for me and I couldn't coordinate what I was doing well in addition to my lack of experience sewing elastics.
In order not to be defeated, I went to get some air and water, I rested until the afternoon arrived almost night, I tried again, and finally I was able to sew the entire elastic, it was not perfect, but I was satisfied and happy because after all I managed to finish my project, I didn't give up,
Finally I sewed the hem and I was happy with the results, I liked how my second attempt turned out for my medium-term venture.
Mi mayor reto fue colocar el elástico porque cuando empecé a coserlo no me percate que había colocado las letras del revés volteadas, al contrario, me di cuenta cuando había avanzado por la mitad de la costura, tenía que volver a descoser.
En mi segundo intento, cosí y el elástico no me alcanzo, me quedó mucha tela sin coser al elástico.
Volví a descoser ya casi rendida, y tratando de estirar el elástico se me partieron 2 agujas que dolor, volvió a intentarlo lo cosí completo, pero quedo un lado más liso y uno más fruncido, volvió a descoser, creo que el calor me tenía mal y no podía coordinar bien lo que estaba haciendo además de mi falta de experiencia cosiendo elásticos.
Para no quedar vencida me fui a tomar un poco de aire y agua, descanse hasta que llego la tarde casi noche, volví a intentarlo, y finalmente pude lograr coser el elástico completo, no quedo perfecto, pero quede conforme y contenta porque después de todo logre terminar mi proyecto no me rendí,
por último cosí el ruedo y estuve contenta con los resultados, me gusto como quedo mi segundo intento para mi emprendimiento a mediano plazo.

Hola Lau. Dicen que la práctica hace al maestro así que que bueno que no te rendiste! Coser elásticos es todo un desafío, al principio cuesta un poco y es frustrante que no quede como queremos, pero que bueno que no te rendiste y lo cosiste al fin. Cada día me animo más en aprender con mis prácticas, y a pesar de que casi me rendí, decidí relajarme para comenzar con más calma, a veces frustra un poco, que provoca llorar, como cuando se nos daña la máquina y estamos en plena costura. Se me ha hecho todo un reto hacer bóxer, colocar el elástico y me estoy poniendo esa meta, porque soy persistente cuando quiero ver un buen resultado, quiero aprender hacer costura tan bien como lo hacen ustedes, con esos detalles tan impecables, me alegra recibir tan buen punto de vista amiga, que bueno que te hayan gustado, gracias por las felicitaciones, feliz tarde. 🙂 💖
Pasa en el taller, cuando una soldadura no sale o una pieza no queda bien, es mejor parar un momento, relajarse y luego seguir.
Insistir cuando fallas una y otra vez solo causa frustración y se pierde material.
Le felicito, ha quedado muy bien y en la medida que siga usted practicando su trabajo quedara mejor.
Si todos lo hemos experimentado en nuestras labores por lo menos unas cuantas veces, y siempre nos va a pasar a lo largo de la vida porque siempre estamos aprendiendo, lo ideal por experiencia es dejar pasar un rato, relajarse y continuar.
