Mi primer trabajo de costura - My first sewing job [ESP/ENG]

Good evening, HIVE community, starting this week with good spirits.

Today I share with you my experience and learning, in the world of sewing since it is my first time working with this technique, which I am learning in my classes at the design university, for this semester, I work with artistic clothing. And for this work, I started making basic bags, intervened with illustrations of my authorship.

IMG-20240511-WA0019.jpeg

I started by cutting out the main pieces for the bag, and then proceeded to sew with the Singer brand machine, which my grandmother lent me, so I could do my internship. I admit that it took me a little while to understand how it works, but my grandmother taught me the basics, which helped me a lot.

For the sewing, I did the so-called "French seam", since my machine had the Zig zag sewing function damaged, in addition to having other failures in the mechanism that made the process difficult for me. But with great courage, continue working despite everything, for several days, in shifts of several hours, until you can complete the assignment.

During this experience, I never expected to have the opportunity to use a machine and create accessories for everyday use on my own, mixing my artistic style and I feel comfortable with the final result.

(Only time I used Zig zag sewing, thanks to the help of a colleague who had a machine).

I hope you like this post and I will be grateful to receive advice to continue improving in the world of sewing.

Hello @mercerprimus Welcome to NeedleWorkMonday community.
Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share about their needlework life with us. We love hearing stories and what types of things inspired your projects. We challenge you to put some feeling and emotion into your publications and help us get to know the needler behind the fabric.

Feel free to share photos of your work but it’s optional if you choose to share the steps with us (we do require you share the step process in at least one of your posts for validation purposes). If you just want to needle and share about that time we’d love to hear about it. 😊

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.
